Yesterday reminded me of the Palace game last season. City not quite on it, against a very hard working team fighting for every ball. We missed a few chances in that one but were short on ideas. This time around the difference is we have players willing to shoot. Alvarez came in and showed exactly what we want and need from our squad.

He chased everything and his goal was absolutely class. He has a wonderful touch, great vision and a fantastic passing range.

He just has that x factor that can win us games when plan A isn't working. To rest Bernardo and De Bruyne and still win away from home is thanks to him. Clinging on at times but he is a special player. The sort of player that can give us something different and win us games. He is going to be critical to us over the next 6 weeks.

In the PL this season:

Alvarez scores every 123 minutes
Rashford scores every 160 minutes
Salah scores every 168 minutes
Nunez scores every 172 minutes

I know City create more chances than United, but to do better than Rashford in terms of goals per minutes is incredible, given this is Rashford's best season and he is not new to the PL...

Edit: Alvarez is scoring at the same rate as Kane. Only Haaland (every 71 minutes), Wilson (104) and Isaak (108) have a better goals to minutes ratio.
What makes Alvarez's contributions so incredible and better than those you've mentioned is he's doing this without consistency in his game time.

Most players need 3/4 games in a row to build confidence and get their touch right but he has been asked to play one game here, one game there, throughout the season and doesn't miss a beat.

geez, the two diagonals to Jack were nutz ...

Mambo Number Nine(teen)

A little bit of Sergio in his strike
A little bit of Carlos in his stride
A little bit of Kev to take the lead
A little bit of Goater’s what I see
A little bit of Zabba in the sun
A little bit of Kinky, all night long
A little bit of David, beats his man
A little bit of Julian destroys your plan!

Hahaha ffs!

one big improvement is that he is no longer getting physically shrugged off by the defenders. he was struggling with that at the start. now he takes a more assured first touch away from the defender and not going for unnecessary physical battles with PL defenders. seems like a conscious improvement on his part.

What an incredible year this lad has had already, he certainly looks as good as Aguero at his age and whilst his style of play will probably never reach Erling’s goals per season ratio, I think he might eventually become our record all-time goalscorer. Something tells me Erling will eventually want a new challenge, but Julian seems to just want to play
