2 defensive midfielders

I'd like to see Nasri given a deeper role alongside Barry or Garcia. I think he could be the deep playmaker that we need if given the chance. I don't like Barry and Garcia in the same team, because they are too slow and not creative or forward thinking enough imo.

I think we should keep the team as is for the moment.

As good as it sounds on paper Silva etc are just not wingers and it wont work.

I agree with the point that Nasri would be a good deep playmaker. Played well there v Everton last year iirc. He played that pass to Dzeko v Stoke from deep as well.

Our wingers, supposedly, are playmakers/attackers and not natural wingers. If we have to rely on our playmakers to constantly track back, they wouldn't be at their best, and they often will vacate their flanks.

Having a holding midfielder ensures the midfielder can cover a winger or full back when either moves forward.

With our plethora of attackers, having an extra holding midfielder just gives them that extra freedom.

Completely agree. The DM's must move side to side to provide cover for the full backs that a traditional winger would. 1 DM couldnt cover the entire width of the pitch

Barry didn't play as a defensive holding midfielder v Fulham, he was getting forward & supporting attacks regularly as well as picking up loose balls etc & pressing in the opponent's half. Barry plus Silva & Yaya together got off almost as many passes as Fulham.

He was brilliant.

We can certainly afford to play one DM against 15-20th placed teams at home.

In recent home games against Sunderland, QPR x2, Southampton and Villa we've been badly caught out when we've thrown too many players forward

What's wrong with Yaya playing in CM as a deep lying playmaker?
He is not creative enough to play #10's role, and is better playing deeper.

First, why not Yaya?

Second, Garcia is actually good going forward and is just now finding his feet to do so. He played very well against Fulham, both defensively and in attack.

Both Yaya and Garcia should not play further up. One of them must remain deep in the midfield to protect the defensive, especially in 4-2-3-1.

all the experts on here ,lol i think i will leave team selection to the man who brought us our first title for 44 years i think he knows what he is doing.
