2 missing elements from the team, leadership and pace

There's obviously not a lot missing. For me we just do not look a balanced side. If we play with Barry, De Jong and Yaya then I think we need very attacking full backs to compensate and provide some width. Yesterday I thought Kolarov was excellent and if anything did not get the support he deserved from the other players. Boateng did well defensively but is not so good going forward. We're third in the league on merit so no need to overreact to an unlucky defeat. In fact of our defeats I think Villa, Everton and Sunderland have all been harsh so perhaps the missing element is a bit of luck!

totally agree, we have lost games purely down to luck.

we move on.

a different approach, with more suited personnel, would have seen us win comfortably.

What approach and change in personnel would have given us this comfortable win that you seem to think would have been guaranteed?

Zab....Toure...Komp....Kol
Silva...DJ....Milner...Johnno
.....Tev.........Dzeko......

'I believe' that team would have played with a higher tempo, keeping Villa on the backfoot while creating more chances.

We're simply missing consistency of selection and, therefore, a blended team, where each individual appreciates what his colleague will do and when. That will come very soon and so too, barring injuries, will silverware.

I agree strongly with what you say, we need a captain that the players will think twice about answering back a class centre half ( lucio) we have x amount of money so buy the best world class if i was mancini i would be getting lucio and snejder.

Our midfield at villa barry, toure, de jong all good players but they are all defensive midfielders toure was a holding player at barca, we need a creator.

At villa if the goals were at the side of the park we would of won ten nil we can play side ways all day but that geeting round the back of teams is a struggle for that one gareth barry.

Fair enough but you are dealing in the hypothetical and with the benefit of hindsight. I've seen all sorts of teams, with all sorts of formations and with hugely talented players have matches like Saturday where inferior teams have "parked the bus" and taken the points. Personally, I thought he put out a good team in a formation that has largely worked well this season. I thought we'd win. Villa defended wonderfully well and a few key City players were off form. This eez football...

That's the root of the problem in every lost this season.

Pace and width are the two things we seem to be lacking. Pace in terms of the natural ability of our players to run quickly as well as in terms of the speed with which we build our attacks. There's simply no need for it to take 20 passes to get from 10 yards inside our half to 10 yeards inside theirs.

We need another wide player too, Johnson will do on one side but with SWP seemingly surplus to requirements we need another option, preferably left sided.

What good would pace have been yesterday when Aston Villa sat with 6 (sometimes 8!) players in their 16 yard box??

Villa scored early on then parked the bus like f'ck. Shit happens - we couldn't find a way through...

People who wants to see a 4-4-2 with pacey wingers should just start supporting Spuds ;)

I intrigued to find where at Villa Park or indeed any ground in the country where there's a 16 yard box. I think poor decision making in the final 3rd or poor finishing cost us on Saturday and not for the first time this season.

The team on a whole played ok apart from a couple of errors. If Tevez scores the one that goes through his legs then thats 1-0 to us and changes the game completely.

If Edin had scored the free header in the last few minutes then that eases it too, Barry missed a free header (bit unlucky though), De Jong was unlucky as it deflected of that twats bollocks onto another defenders shin an then onto the post.

As for the other defeats to Sunderland and Everton it was the same theme. Tevez missed an open net just before they scored and with Everton we were shit for 17 mins and got punished the rest of the match was like the fooking alamo.

We're not far off but we do need to improve that awful record of failing to come from behind to win when away from home. We'll never win the league unless that changes!!!
