I think we need a world class centre half to challenge lescott.

Its a nice idea, unfortunately world class centre backs do not sit on the bench.

you wont sign a "world class" centre half without promising him first team football first, which would then mean dropping JL to the bench, which imo isnt neccesarry because I think the JL and VK partnership is developing quite nicely.

I think kolo is as good as you'll get for central defensive cover, towards the end of an experienced career at the higher end of football, champions league experience etc would probably walk into any premier league side outside the top 5 or 6.

Whats happens if kompany getsi injured for a month or more? if we do sign a centre back he would obviously have to play multiple positions like martinez so he would get a good number of games.

We should be going for young upcoming players for next season as our team is nearing completion.We have exsperience and skill in abundance but lack atheleticismn in midfield and other areas.If we could add martinez who could play centre back and cover midfield, and a speedy forward wide player and a box to box midfielder who weighs in with a few goals we will compete with barca and real for sure.

I am still weary of RVP.. this is the longest period of not being badly injured that he has had for a long time.. before this season the guy barely played!

Huh? I dunno. I think there's plenty of that in defense and in midfield.
