Good to see the senior men focussing on the really serious offences……ACC Rawlinson sounds like a right barrel of laughs doesn't he.
If it happened a long time ago, it would have been at The Baseball Ground. It was a long time ago, I was young, I was single. I drank a little.
I used to go to some Derby matches with a group of lads I had met in the pub and who became mates.
I found a press pass for a "Sun" photographer at a game. A 1st division side at the time Derby.
I obtained this dead old broken camera with a big lens, wore a silly hat, and gained entry to the next home game.
I just followed the others with a camera.
I even took an old stool to sit on, lasted a few games, then I was asked to " wait there" I didn't wait there , I got out of there as fast as I could.
Shit hole that pride park.

Apparently Rooney was to big to fit in his bag.Cleaning up the rubbish at Old Trafford? No there's a big job!
You could be forgiven for thinking that crime levels must be under complete control in the Southampton area then given the self-congratulations coming from that pompous twat.Assistant Chief Constable Tony Rowlinson, Gold Commander for the policing operation around the game, said: “This was a ridiculous plot to try and see the game, despite knowing tickets were sold out and those without tickets would not be getting in.
“They clearly came with the intention to get into the stadium illegally, bringing high-vis vests with ‘steward’ on the back, with one even carrying a radio and earpiece.
“However, what they didn’t bank on was the professionalism and vigilance of the club’s security team and our officers, who quickly spotted they weren’t wearing any accreditation and worked together to eject them.
“Their actions have seen them face very serious consequences in court today and for two people who were so desperate to see this one game, they will now not be able to go to any for three years.
“I would like to thank the stewards who spotted something was wrong and took immediate action, as well as our officers who swiftly intervened and helped ensure they had their day in court.
“I hope this reassures the real football fans that we work closely with football clubs and will take action against those who threaten to disrupt games.”
Agree with this. However, I do suspect that there would be a lesser punishment or none at all if they’d tried it against a team that weren’t their fiercest rivals. As someone else said, they should be thanked for highlighting how bad the club were for allowing them in without ID.
The pair are stupid as they should have whipped the vests off as soon as they were in and just gone around their business as fans.
I think the ban is harsh. They didn’t force their way in nor pose any kind of threat. Just two lads trying their luck to watch a game. A fine or even a bit of community service, but to receive the same punishment as a racist or a thug (or a racist thug) isn’t on for me.
Or throw a pint pot with coins in to try to injure someone.Seems ok. Brick a coach and get fuck all. Good stuff.
“Recreational supplements”. Bravo.A colleague of mine is a senior steward at St Mary's so given the discussion here I thought I'd ask him about the incident. Turns out he had a ringside seat. The two skate scamps managed to get past the steward manning the gate into the stadium as he didn't check their passes. However, security spotted them more or less as soon as they walked through. A chase ensued, which m'colleague described as "like something from Benny Hill", with a couple of well-padded bouncers attempting to catch the hi-viz ne'er-do-wells.
So it boils down to a mistake by a volunteer steward that was quickly spotted. For nearly any other match at St Mary's this wouldn't be much of an issue but the hype and boiled piss around the Pompey game was always going to attract attention. I'm no fan of the Hampshire feds but I'm not sure they even had a chance to get involved in this one.
He also told me a few details about the police briefing for the City game. We have a particular rep for bringing in recreational supplements.

Not just there. Any time you see the Gallaghers at our place, do you think they paid for those tickets? Prince Bill at Villa. Piers Morgan at the twats. Dalglish, Rush, Hansen at the dips etc etc.Well,if I'm honest I'd have given it a go.....
I bet at lower league grounds folks are getting in every week for free one way or the other
Went there a few times. If it happened a long time ago, it would have been at The Baseball Ground.
Went there a few times.
Couldn't find my car once, as the streets around the ground were very similar.
Don't remember City getting any joy there ?
I'm not sure they'd be classed as celebrity fans. Not just there. Any time you see the Gallaghers at our place, do you think they paid for those tickets? Prince Bill at Villa. Piers Morgan at the twats. Dalglish, Rush, Hansen at the dips etc etc.
