Without question the most consistent and persistent presser when the opposition defence is in possession. He is the most intelligent in discerning what angles are open to them and getting himself into positions that then force them to attempt riskier passes, which are in turn more likely to lead to us regaining possession. It’s not the tireless running that’s important, it’s where he’s running to and the effect that has on the opposition.

But Gundogan is also undroppable so what we do?

Pep's solution last year to get all 3 on last year was to make KdB or Bernie play false 9, but I don't see that happening anymore.

The only other way is to sacrifice a defender and play a 3151 (343 diamond), but this is a VERY attacking formation if you use wingers and not fullbacks.

It may be possible though if it defends as a 451, where Rodri drops as a CB and the wide CBs defend as fullbacks as well.

Said it a few weeks ago that the Spanish teams had to be fools to not try and scrape anything and everything together to get this guy.

Was top again today, clear MOTM for me and there was a lot of good performances.

I've very interested to see how pep handles KDB coming back into the side, anyways not my problem and we have lots of games to play.

He's such an intelligent and talented player, we are lucky to have him. He said in the motd interview post mtach that he loves the club and loves the players, wouldn't say that if he was thinking of leaving and that's good enough for me. I don't envy Pep having to make his team selections with KDB, Silva, Grealish, Mahrez, Gundogan, Foden as our creative choices.
