I said it on another thread, the club better be looking at somebody else called Silva to replace Bernardo. We could have three Silva statues lined up next to each other. They could even make them out of....gold!

His second goal was absolutely stunning. The way he can move his body and manipulate space is unparalleled. He's a nightmare to play against. You can't stop him when he has the ball and you can't get away from him when he's chasing you.

David was superior in an attacking sense in terms of controlling the game and influencing things, but Bernardo is coming up fast and defensively is far better. Finding his top form at just the right time with this run of games we're in. Looking forward to him destroying the dippers in a couple of weeks. That performance he put in against them in the 2-2 a few years ago is still one of my favourites, never seen a player play more like they were one of us in the stands. He chased absolutely everything that day.

Goal 2 by Bernardo was the result of a long flowing move - Eddy to Ake to Julian to Doku to Walker back to Doku.
Bernardo started that whole move out even with Eddy back by the corner flag. chug chug chug chug chug goal

Wondering if you might mean the 2-1 in 2019 when Sane scored the winner. Bernardo was unbelievable that day (along with Fernandinho). One of the best performances I have seen by a player in the Pep era.

Yeah that's the one sorry. Unbelievable title race that one!

Bernardo is more “complete” than David. I don’t think he’s better, per se, but he’s a more rounded player
Funny thing from weekend - when Bernardo was rotating one way and t'other, sending defenders dizzy I thought of David Silva. David Silva could rotate on on one peseta piece and fox defenders. Bernardo does the same stuff but needs the space afforded by a fifty pence .

Looked a bit tired at times. He needs a break soon otherwise he’s going to start struggling. We are asking too much from him

I don't know if it was Pep told him to do but his pressing left us wide open and accomplished nothing other than leaving Rodri alone against 4 players in midfield.

In the big games he needs to play in the front 3 so he can press and harry like a madman. If he is going to play in centre midfield he needs to be far more disciplined in his positioning.

Terrible deployment of him from pep today. He was pressing way too high for somebody playing basically in a midfield 2 and I cannot for the life of me fathom why his first movement everytime we got the ball was to move into doku's position. Rodri did the same on the right so I'm 100% convinced it was tactical.

That spin he did to release us on a break which should have led to something was utterly sublime.

Not a great game but completely not his fault.

Really? I thought he was brilliant. He was just asked to do far too much IMO.

In the sense of all our problems were in central midfield. Like I said, I in no way attribute blame to him for it, he did what he could in the circumstances, the tactics were just really shit and him and rodri following instructions caused us many problems.

Mentioned in the other thread how I came from the US to see the game today. My 13 yo is super into American sports but is indifferent toward “soccer.” I mentioned to my husband after the game how Bernardo is so slight in person and my 13 yo chimed in, “Is that number 20? Cause he’s the best player on the team. He is so small but so aggressive. Like an ant that keeps biting you.”

It was funny to see what stood out to him - as he literally has no knowledge of the game or players. But there may be hope for him yet if he picked out Bernardo!

I wish we could play him on the right and in central midfield against pool. Hahaha!

Can’t believe anyone thinks that performance from Bernardo wasn’t brilliant. What a fucking player.
We have lots of fans that are not capable of a tactical / technical assessment of a performance. I would argue Phil was slightly better but Bernardo was excellent. Defensively we were poor, individual mistakes and poor positioning/ decision making. Nothing more, nothing less.

Pep should give Bernado more authority on the pitch. He is the most senior and the best attacking midfielder when KDB is away.

Some players did not follow Bernado's instructions on the pitch.
