I think the misplaced passes are being given way too much weight, awful is wildly over the top, those stray passes aside, he did his role. Not suggesting he was great but he is the only one in midfield that shows any kind of bite off the ball and the only one who actually moves to receive the ball when we have it. He's doing a lot of heavy lifting, trying to carry a 3 man midfield on his own. We'd be a lot worse off without him.
