20 | Bernardo Silva - 2025/26

His whinging in interviews is a bit silly.
Saying Dier is known for diving a week after collapsing to the ground holding his face as the ball hit him lightly on the lower body isn’t a good look for a captain.

Opposition teams don’t worry when Silva is in the pitch if Bob was there they would even Savino there they would you notice when silva gets the ball in the right they just close him down then jobs done easy night ever

He’s in the side for mentality and because he works hard. He doesn’t lead by example in the quality of his play which is what a captain should be.

Rodri for example. Or Vinnie who had the mentality and the quality. Fernandinho. Gundogan. Merlin. They’re captains. Not Bernardo.
He is a busy fool running around like an headless chicken and not seeing no end product .

The best thing he does for us these days is sit alongside Rodri or Nico and do the running for them. Thats the only role he should play. Why he's on the right wing is completely beyond me.
There are better players to do that job. That's why he's been pushed out on to the wing. Love the guy but this version of Bernardo is excruciating to watch.

I don't know if you saw the interview when he said it but you can see he is clearly joking to Dier about it who appears to be being interviewed a few feet away.

It’s almost as ridiculous as the bloke who was made captain last year. Not quite because Bernardo isn’t a knobhead but it’s similar in that everyone can see he’s past it and should rarely be starting games.

Going off the last 2 selections Dias is looking like shoe in for the armband next year.

I love Bernardo for what he's done for us over the years and I find it really sad to say but he's done as a top level footballer.
He used to be a creative force for us and make a difference, but now it's very hard to watch him as most of our moves die as soon as he gets the ball.
If he has to play it needs to be in the middle as we can't have someone that slow out wide
Yeah. We had a counter near the end last night and for a split second i got excited thinking it was Foden. Realised it was Bernie so that was that. Was yards clear on the defender with Haaland flying towards the box. He ended up getting easily caught and had to circle before going backwards. Clearly not the lads fault but his legs have completely gone.

I feel like he's probably a respected presence in the dressing room but he just doesn't impact anything in attack for us anymore. Every player Pep has used to hold possession and control the game has at least had some attacking bite.

No i didn't watch it, saw the quotes under the video on Twitter but didn't click on it.
Fair enough then if he was joking.

Pep's obviously thinking we need experienced heads in away games to steer us through, but his wastefulness in the final third cost us yesterday. His movement was good, but Bobb would have made something happen from the opportunities he got. Defensively he puts a shift in, but again he just can't cover the ground like he once did.

Going on and on about Bernardo when there were the shitshows from the usual suspects and indeed the Manager last night.
The new ffs.
Exactly. Bernardo plays the way he does because he’s told to play that way. It works against the big teams where you need/want a lot of control. But against sides where you’re expected to win we need someone more direct with pace. Bobb should have started

Honestly, Bernardo made me mad in too many excellent breaking opportunities over the years. He just doesn't play the quick pass, is waiting too long and stops to control the ball or makes the wrong pass.

For all his greatness, he's one of the worst players on fast breaks I've seen. Kev and Gundo were the giants, just clinical.

Saved me writing it!

That is EXACTLY what he should be doing and his taking up the RW position made us weak down our right the entire game.

Monaco knew Stones was slow and there for the taking and that Bernie wasn’t going to provide him any cover.

Absolutely love his devilish streak and never say die attitude, but while that might be good in the dressing room, it has become less effective on the field this season as we have seen the speed of the game increase another notch yet again, and his 60% pace for 90 minutes become a stark reminder of who he is…and is not!

Stones + Bernardo or anyone not named Nunes with Bernardo is just making us weaker for whatever purpose. Teams don’t need to defend the right side and can fully focus on the middle and the left side. But it’s about control that currently doesn’t even win us games but what do I know.
