I love him to bits, City legend. But he needs replacing or we need Rodri to return to full fitness. He can still do a job, but I thought he struggled with the physicality tonight. Ran like fuck, but he gets knocked off the ball to easily.

It's not far off. That first half he seemed to be tasked with leading the forward press on their GK, playing wide right, and covering in front of the defence. The net result being he seemed to be in the wrong place almost continuouslyIt's not impossible, he just can't do it that well anymore.

No other player anywhere is asked to lead the press ahead of a striker, play as a right winger, and get back in as an 8, and even a 6 at times. It‘s an impossible ask.It's not impossible, he just can't do it that well anymore.

Bernie's character will never be questioned - he willed himself into difficult tackles late on tonight. He needs a bit of a rest above all other players for me. I was hoping Tijjani would be an option but is not as smart as I thought he was - gets into the wrong positions too much - hopefully Rodri can be back soon as if we can find the best option alongside Nico G with our current front 4 we will be some team.

Put in a shift and a half. Pep had him in a frankly insane position doing something pointless in chasing shadows (there is no way he was doing that without specific instructions to do so) he was badly needed alongside Nico in my opinion but not his fault at all that he was hardly ever in there.
The booking was crazy if he was trying to avoid a ban but is suspect it was intentional, getting a suspension out of the way next game is probably what we want and clear him for after the league phase.
