20 | Bernardo Silva - 2025/26

So I guess you missed his assist against Wolves and the way that he out-battled Newcastle's combative midfield? You must also have not noticed his leadership qualities like the way he protected Khusanov after the errors the latter made in the first 20 minutes of his debut against Chelsea?
He may sometimes struggle but without his herculean efforts we would not have finished in the Champions League places last season. He has been overplayed because of injuries to the likes of Rodri and Kovacic but he keeps turning out match after match and I for one appreciate that.
Attacking him for how much he gets paid and comparing it to young players in the early stages of their career like Anderson and Wharton is a crappy thing to do.
I have seen terrible players who could not be arsed to make an effort and know very well what that looks like (Nigel Clough, Wayne Clark, Gerry Creaney etc.). Trying to throw Bernado under a bus with the likes of those losers is not something any real City fan would do. When did you start "supporting" City?
A spot on response.
I don’t think that poster could possibly support City.
Bernardo has carried this team for longer than I care to remember.
He’s run himself into the ground for the blue shirt.
Absolutely loves the club, his teammates and most importantly us.
Is always honest in his assessments of our performances.
And from my perspective, will be a very sad day when he moves on.

He is currently earning £300,000 per week while contributing only slightly more than Lewis. He has been by far the worst player in this team since May 2023 (if we don't count Phillips and Lewis). He is a liability in defense and a huge problem for our defenders; he doesn't win any duels, whether in the air or on the ground. He can't catch up to anyone, and every midfielder in the league outruns him.

As for the right-wing position, it's pointless to even discuss it—he is even more useless there.
I don't want to sugarcoat things, just state them as they are. Currently, he earns more than Andersen, Wharton, Zubimendi, and a few other defensive midfielders combined.
I would honestly rather see anyone of them in the lineup for an away game against Tottenham than Bernardo.
You can't live off past glory.

Another season at City would mean we are once again ruining the chance to establish a proper midfield, which has been broken since Gündoğan's departure, and Fernandinho's before him. Even Kovačić is a better CM than him—he looks more natural in that position

We will have massive problems again if he stays, and I hope he doesn't. It's hard to say what's worse: the fact that he's Pep's favorite and that he has to play every single minute. If he’s used as a CMF, then someone like Rodri, Gonzalez, O'Reilly, or Anderson** will have to suffer next season. Even worse than that is Pep's masochistic move to push him to the right wing in 2026. Savinho is a better right winger than him.
He is a Benfica-level player.
Many people forget how he spent years leaking rumors about moving to Barcelona, and every time, Pep would deny those rumors with his life. I hope the time has finally come for them to come tru

I'll summarise. You know fuck all about football.

Keep him for one more season. We don't have to play him as much and we can offer him reduced terms.

We're running out of players who have won the PL and CL. Until we do it again, we may need to keep Rodri, Dias, Gvardiol, Bernardo, Kovacic, Nunes, Donnarumma, etc. for as long as possible.

Words need to be had about Rodri. Kovacic may be a permanent sicknote now. But Bernardo plays every week, plays wherever Pep wants him to, and has shown good form this season after struggling last year.

I think you know the answer to that one.

sad to see brain injuries like this

Some really daft takes on this thread. Yes we can all agree Bernie is not the Bernie of 2 years ago but why is that?

1. In a squad where several of our players have not been available because of minor knocks Bernardo has constantly played even with I suspect minor injuries.
2. Despite him not being an attacking threat as he once was he has never shirked about receiving the ball. He always wants it (probably why Pep loves him)
3. He is a feisty bugger and is often the one player who is sticking up for his teammates after they have been fouled by much bigger players.
4. He has literally run himself into the ground - constantly being one of the players that covers the most ground. Imagine being a Duracell battery left on 24hours a day of course the power output will dim a bit - he has probably had the least recovery rest of any of our team.

So yes age catches up to every player but Bernardo Silva has given his all in every season he has been with us - probably affecting his impact at times but never letting his team or manager down. He has been integral to our success and it will be a sad day when he leaves. Time waits for no man but one thing you could never criticise him for is not trying his absolute best to win a game.

I wish him all the best wherever he goes to in the summer.

Do you go to any City matches. I doubt it. This is the most stupid post I have seen on Bluemoon. One of the greatest ever for City and Portugal. Bernie is a legend and you are not a City fan.
