20 Stories - Manchester

I think I was paying £3.70 in Prenton on Saturday which I was fine with.

If people are stupid enough to pay these prices then I understand why these businesses open.

The prices are daft everywhere now, I paid nine quid for a bacon sausage and egg barm and two hash browns in toast in withington yesterday morning as nowt else was open,

I've not been impressed by Manchester for a while now, not just the prices, just the general 'meh' feeling I get when I'm there, and the lack of quality that the bars actually provide.

Post Fulham game, went to some bar in Ancoats, where me and my mate got a pint of Estrella, which came in a plastic pot, and we were charged north of £7 each a pint, plus a service charge of 10%.

Back to the OP, 20 stories is alright, if you're not getting in the way of pretty much every other person wanting to take a picture of the gaff!

As for Northern Quarter, used to like it around there but not every bar is pretty much the same, and the chances of you getting your beer in the glass it was meant to be served in, are less than zero!

Something not right there

Manchester tart = £15 x 3 is £45
Espresso martini not on menu
G&T £12

That would put the espresso martini’s at over £18 each which doesn’t seem right.

Had they added 10% service charge?

They probably don't sell pints, if they do it will be some fancy pale ale at about a tenner a glass.

It's quite an amusing idea that high prices keep the riff raff out. It more than likely keeps out decent people not stupid enough to get ripped off. The criminals and drug dealers will have plenty of cash and can probably sell their wares for more money in these places.

I remember years ago when clubs imposed all sorts of dress rules to keep the riff raff out. Of course these rules were just another weapon for the bouncers to refuse entry to anybody they didn't like the look of. "Sorry mate no trainers/black/,brown shoes, no shirts without a collar/no shirts with a collar blah blah blah." The scallies would go to the market and buy a suit for £35, get in and smash the place up lol.
I was in a bar in Chorlton a good 10 years ago and saw a beer that I hadn’t heard of and thought I’d give it a try.

The barman asked if I was sure as it was £9.50 for 2/3s of a pint.

I declined and went for something cheaper.

Probably £20 now.
