2002

Someone reminisced on the Album nomination thread what they were doing around this time of their lives when they heard the songs.

So with that in mind, what was happening in your life 22 years ago in 2022 ?

I was a fresh faced 17 years old, leaving school and about to do my A levels when I got a job opportunity in London as an office clerk. Was hitting the age of pubs and clubs , desperate for any lass and the whole new world of leaving school was a big change in my life.
Season ticket at Hammers, had such an exciting team in Di Canio, Lampard, Sinclair etc and we got relegated!
Great days with my old man though and looking back to 2002 it felt a great time.
May 2002 was when i went from working in a plastics factory to becoming a trainee Mobile telecommunications rigger for a company that maintained serviced and diagnosed fault finding and fixing for Vodafone. Worked all over UK for all networks on 2 3 and 4g for over 16 years and enjoyed travelling the UK in doing so.

Had a 6 year old girl at the time and and my wife(ex) was expecting our 2nd daughter. Was working between 45 and 60 hours a week then mainly away from home. Probably a major contributing factor to us splitting up in 2004. Ah well, shit happens.

Rubbish year. I lost a very good friend was a 21 year old working in a printing factory with a control freak of a boss and wanted out.

Still, so many good albums and Reading Festival that year was brilliant. Was however so glad on New Year's Eve to get rid of it.

Dropped out of MMU after the first year of my Information Systems degree and started working in the Mosley Street Service Centre for Lloyds TSB. Living on Banff Street in Rusholme. No season ticket at Maine Road but attended regularly. Also often at gigs.
