2013-2014 team

General thoughts:

KEEPERS
- All good there.

DEFENSE
- I think Richards would be an even better centre back than full back, and would start training and playing him in that position primarily.
- All though I think Nastasic looks absolutely amazing, he is still very young and we need one more experienced and world class defender to pair up with Kompany. My pick will be Chiellini.
- I don't think we can get a better back up left back than Kolarov, so he'll stay to complement Clichy

MIDFIELD
- We need a world-class defensive mid with good distribution skills; Busquets or De Rossi being the two best. Both would be very expensive but we would know what we'd get as opposed to getting someone cheaper and potentially good, as Benat for example. Do we have room for yet another failed signing in this position? I think not.
- I really like Milner, but I think we could get a decent amount for him if we put him on the market. The same for Barry who is not getting any better.
- I would love for us to test Arsenal for Wilshire.
- Nasri should always be played in the central midfield, for the rest of his remaining City career. He's class there, as opposed to stuck out on the wing.
- We need an Iniesta or Hazard, and his name is Isco. A definite purchase.
- Zaha looks like a great player for the future.
- Bale and Fabregas would be mindblowing, but both I fear are just too expensive.
- André Schürrle or Marco Reus would be faaaantastic, but I wonder if any of them is attainable.

ATTACK
- Time to cash in on Tevez, and sell Balotelli. If a great offer for Dzeko cam in I'd sell him as well.
- Bring in David Villa to form our main striker pair with Aguero. Guidetti needs one more year out on loan, preferably in the PL or possibly the Championship. With that in mind we need to bring in one more striker, and I would love to see us try to get Giuseppe Rossi from Villarreal here. He'd be cheap, and would most likely accept his third choice status for a year or two.

Full 25-man squad:

GK: Hart, Pants, Wright
RB: Maicon, Zabaleta
CBR: Kompany, Richards
CBL: Chiellini, Nastasic
LB: Clichy, Kolarov
DM: De Rossi, Barry, Garcia
CM: Yaya, Nasri, Wilshire, Milner
AM: Isco, Silva, Zaha, Schürrle
ST: Aguero, Villa, Rossi

I couldn't pick a best XI from that list though... too hard.

That's the only thing you saw wrong with that team I posted? If we signed Ronaldo, Rooney and Nani with Mourinho as gaffer I think I would start self harming.

I saw the rest as sarcasm ;)

Mourinho is a manager I like, and Ronaldo is the secound best player in the world, but Naini and Rooney? Fuck no

Ronaldo is a **** and Mourinho is on the verge of getting sacked because after spending hordes of cash he is still doing shit but yes by all means lets get Mourinho because he is the self pro-claimed 'special 1'
Mourinho is class, but its all a matter of opinion ;)

lol.

While the occasional big money signing is OK, I like the approach of going for players like Halilovic and Deulofeu and slowly blooding them into the first team with other high quality young players (possibly including some of our own who might be close to ready in the next couple of years like Suarez, Rekik, Guidetti) to create an exciting young attacking team like Dortmund and Barcelona.

I don't think we should spend over £30million on any player now unless Neymar or Gotze signal interest in coming to England, ie. future possible Ballon d'Or winners and household names-to-be. Players like Isco, Draxler, Zouma, Strootman, Maher, Jovetic would cost far less than £30million (OK, Jovetic might edge closer if we got bent over at the negotiating table) and would be good signings for us as they are young, really good, motivated to succeed, and will sign on more modest wages than our superstar signings which I believe is something Txiki and Soriano will try to do from now on (bring some sanity to the wage bill).

I'm not saying we should just buy kids but it should be the general direction of the club IMO, we can learn a lot from our recent games with Dortmund. Young players either academy trained (which we will have a limited supply of in comparison until our academy improves) or signed at decent prices (Reus, Hummels, etc.) who play for the shirt and work their arses off even in dead rubber games for them like Tuesday.

Sell at least one striker and get more creativity in.

That team would get destroyed, far too attacking and Yaya is not great defensively.

Laurdrup might just get Swansea in the Champions League this season, just a thought.

Fair point, they'd havr to get the ball off us first though! Good job i didn't stick Tevez in for Hart then?

Reckon he might get em into Europa league

I see many ppl dont have Yaya in their team, remember: Form is temproary, class is permanent. Yaya has deffo class ;)

I don't understand your argument at all. What is your point?

Anyway, what has it got to do with coming up with the best formation for the 11 players on the pitch? You shouldn't try to form an ideal formation just to fit your favourite player in.

yaya is one of the best midfielders in the world, and has been very important for us this two succesful seasons, and only 28 years old. Almoust singlehandly won us the game at Bernabeu, and now he has a dip of form people wanna sell him and put him out of the starting 11
