That's the depressing and dangerous thing. Trump throwing a socio-political hand grenade over his shoulder as he leaves the building. That it's right or wrong hardly matters - it's the doubt and distrust that are key.

That has been the danger all along though, and it is how he won in the first place. It is what he and Farage have managed to do, politicise 'a way of life'. It was their way of attracting numbers of typically apathetic voters, the effect being that large numbers of people genuinely believed they are not voting for this policy or that, but for their existence. Mag(A), take back control, two sides of the same coin. And that is why they are So happy to believe anything now, that they've been cheated, undermined etc.

As you very much say, something needs to start happening to even begin to focus people back towards each other. I found your mention of covid perverse earlier, but, (can't say this for the US) in some ways, it Has put the divisions of brexit to the side/background.

Biden very much will have his work cut out for him, and in many ways, Trump is actually very lucky to be getting out at such a tough time without having to pick up any peices or deal with some real hardships coming up. (that he largely caused).

Won a few quid on this when his odds slipped out as the results came in.

I think Trump was crusing to re-election till Corona hit, after that it needed a safe pair of hands.

Be interesting to see if he does a full term and who he’s or Harris up against in 2024? Tom Cotton or Tucker Carlson? Wouldn’t be suprised.

Trump / Pence 2024.

I didn't dare post this on Tuesday but now that pomp and vain pretence has got the bum's rush:

The Poor Voter on Election Day
by John Greenleaf Whittier

The proudest now is but my peer,
The highest not more high;
To-day, of all the weary year,
A king of men am I.
To-day alike are great and small,
The nameless and the known
My palace is the people's hall,
The ballot-box my throne!

Who serves to-day upon the list
Beside the served shall stand;
Alike the brown and wrinkled fist,
The gloved and dainty hand!
The rich is level with the poor,
The weak is strong to-day;
And sleekest broadcloth counts no more
Than homespun frock of gray.

To-day let pomp and vain pretence
My stubborn right abide;
I set a plain man's common sense
Against the pedant's pride.
To-day shall simple manhood try
The strength of gold and land
The wide world has not wealth to buy
The power in my right hand!

While there's a grief to seek redress,
Or balance to adjust,
Where weighs our living manhood less
Than Mammon's vilest dust, --
While there's a right to need my vote
A wrong to sweep away,
Up! clouted knee and ragged coat!
A man's a man to-day!

Straight from the horse’s mouth @Bigga.
Similar to what I posted a day or two ago.
I've no idea what's been said a day or two ago.

I've had some extremely personal shit going on, so haven't really been on here.
well said Bernie. This was a huge step forward for America and the World today.

Yet @Bigga has been telling us for months that either vote doesn’t matter and nothing will change
The Biden gov hasn't started and you don't know what will shake out in the senate yet.

Also, you've no idea what the Gov will look like after that.

You're acting like election day is the start of a utopia!

You're talking out of your arse at this point.

I see he's Still refusing to put on his big boy pants.

Donald, fars yer troosers!

Sanders can talk all he likes.

The proof is in the action.
Well Biden said all the right words last night.
It is indeed now time for action.
He spelt it out to the black community last night, how much he knows he owes them.

Let’s see if he can firstly, and will secondly. He has his work cut out.
Covid and the economy will come first.
He won’t be around in four years so let’s see what kind of ground work he lays for the future.

If he can get the GOP cooperating again it would be a major achievement. Remains to be seen.

But think of the dead birds.

This won't be the last we see of Donald
If Biden is serious about following the science then we will surely see the world's leading windmill expert have a role in renewable energy. Such a shame Emu died

Did the Don get this shit about wind turbines from Putin?

He started talking nonsense about turbines killing worms and birds a while back. Now Putin is trying to save his gas export market.

To see daft Donald say he knows more about wind than anyone else was utterly ridiculous. He could not even name the parts of a wind turbine, never mind anything else regarding wind energy.

Donald has said some really stupid and dangerous things, but his wind comments were right up there for me.

For the record, they think about one bird dies per wind turbine, per year, in the UK. That's including offshore ( so around 10K in total).

The sad part is that Borris would have sold us all down the river just to do a deal with this idiot. How can you deal with someone who can't be seen to lose in any way?

Judging from all the democratic presidents I remember, back to Jimmy Carter, I doubt the GOP senate/congress will ever cooperate.
Sadly Bigga is right, it’s just talk at the moment, unless the senate & congress become equal or blue, then it’s going to be very hard for Biden to repeal (let alone progress) the shitshow of stuff Trump has inflicted on working class Americans (directly or indirectly) for the past 4 years.
If Biden can get covid under control, then the economy will surge, and hopefully those figures would indicate to the floating voters in the midterms that he’s doing a good job, And elect enough blue, to push back the red intransigence.
