A lot of people have gone all-in on the high risk gamble that Trump is going to get re-elected, and that they will get heavily rewarded by Trump for their loyalty.

A lot of people are going to be very disappointed by 2pm (DC Time) tomorrow (the vote is at 1pm - 6pm UK). Worth watching CNN.

Am I right in thinking that the Reps were just under the 2% clear lead they needed to avoid the run off. Its so close but still must favour the Reps slightly given the voting history of the state.

You are correct in that a majority was needed to avoid run-off elections.

But the original elections were some time ago. Numerous recent factors have emerged that now seem to favor (slightly) both Democratic candidates. Indeed, betting odds have swung in very slight favor of both Democratic candidates recently (Google betting odds for details).

All told - it's too close to call.

Both CNN and MSNBC anchors for their results shows have said they are expecting to be on a very long time.

Polls have to be taken with huge grains of salt because of the holiday period.
