And he's a Republican!!

I doubt anyone on here is surprised that many others are at it and also the hypocrisy of many of Trump's critics. However the argument is not that he's evading or avoiding tax, it's that he's the President and is evading or avoiding tax. Defenders of him will use arguments like the video to try to dilute the primary issue in the hope that actual and potential voters of him disgusted by his actions will be appeased.

That's a fascinating piece mate. Obviously I am going on the video alone and maybe there's a counterpoint view that I have no knowledge of but I think the word egregious as used in he vid would on the face of it sum things up nicely.

I think the there is an issue here, especially in this particular thread and that is the the conversations that are being had amount to two arguments that have been conflated which to my mind is where a lot of the circular arguments stem from and that is;

1) The system is broken and needs to be fixed moving forwards. Your arguments have been poweerful and persuasive in this regard.

2) But it's Trump.

As of this moment in time we have two candidates running so Americans have a binary choice.

To my mind the latter point at the moment, and I stress this bearing in mind point 1, is the most pressing, one could say, the only point worth considering right now.

I had an idea that maybe there ought to be another thread regarding the two parties policies and how they should be addressed to bring about a more, ahem, democratic system that benefits all Americans and not just those who not only control the system but would seem to actively use (abuse?) said system to further their own ends. As you have said both parties are at it.

Disgusting as it would appear to be it's like turkeys voting for Thanksgiving. Power corrupts.

Are you comparing Trump to Lincoln?
Not really im pointing out the moral vacuum of the Democrats who indeed have worn Republican clothes ,when it "suits" them
Its happening again now with Biden wearing Trumps clothes with his latest economic plan that shamelessly mimicks Trumps buy American hire American policys

I understand the "immediate" issue, but there wouldn't be one if the rich didn't game a system built for the rich!

In reality, if he never paid taxes before, why would he pay taxes now? Because of 'the honour of the seat'...??

What Enjeti says is a reality that plays out across the top of society inclusive of Democrats pulling the wool over the eyes of the working class, but I won't deep dive on that now.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game" is super accurate.

The problem with @Bigga 's position (and forgive me Bigga for talking about you not with you) is that he desires a better and fairer world but either doesn't accept that most of us want it too and so is lost in a perpetual need to preach about the failings of politicians of the past, or he's up to something with a desire to see Trump returned to power.

I've made my decision.

If you have thoughts on a thread, have at it.

The reason why much of this would be important is because the UK tends to follow suit in regards of legislation change(and vice versa) if it works and, right now, there's a dearth of intellectual expansion on policy for the people in both countries.

In my opinion.
