Voter suppression and gerrymandering is about the only way Republicans can win elections anymore, so they excel at it! Throw in voter intimidation, and you have the Autocrat’s Trifecta!

People in the lines are waiting to vote early IN PERSON AT A VOTING MACHINE. We do not have a national holiday to vote and if everyone (130,000,000 people voted in 2016) were forced to vote on one day it couldn’t happen! On my ballot alone, I expect there to be 50-70 elections, for things from President to Member of the Water Reclamation District, not to mention there is even 1 very significant State Constitutional Amendment on the ballot this year.

My early voting starts on Monday! We may well get there before the doors open!

In Texarse, early voting started today and 1 million people cast votes! 15 million early votes already nationwide, and it literally started this week!

The level of state and local chicanery is disgusting, esp in Texas, where a Republican Governor removed all but ONE MAIL DROP OFF LOCATION PER COUNTY, and the Texarse State Supreme Court upheld it! That means some people out in the country would have to drive up to 50 miles to drop their non-in-person ballot in an Election Drop Box!

In Palm Springs, CA, Republicans have placed their own COMPLETELY ILLEGAL DROP BOXES IN REPUBLICAN AREAS, but the Dems are too pussy to simply remove them!

Not sure if you can access US Netflix (haha!) but check out “EXPLAINED: Whose vote counts.” It’ll open your eyes to the high degree of cuntery that voters, esp poor and black or simply Democratic, voters have to put up with in the so-called “heart of democracy” (where we don’t elect our president by democratic vote at all!!!).

For instance, for Biden to win the Presidency, he will probably need to win the popular vote by 5,000,000 or more, depending on where those votes are, because we are still using the voting system intended for the white slave and land owners from back in the day! It’s a fucking joke and GREATLY EXAGGERATES THE POWER OF LARGE RURAL STATES WITH VERY LOW POPULATION DENSITY!

So, vote early....and, in Chicago, vote often!
Thanks for that CB, but it only makes me more astounded.
It is an incredibly crazy situation and so far removed from a government of the people, by the people, for the people.

We don’t get a holiday here to vote either, but rarely would have more than the national vote on one day. It can happen that there may be a local election in an area on the same day but extremely rare.

Polling stations close at end of day and results come back within 1-3 days for all areas.

There are local polling stations nationwide and you go to your assigned one and by ballot number go to one of the many tellers within to receive your paper.
So no queuing of any consequence.

There are busier times if the day, naturally, like just before school runs, but it all runs like clockwork.

Your system by design sounds totally undemocratic to me.

We had Gerrymandering up north around 50 years ago and it caused a lot of Trouble. Take note.

“EXPLAINED: Whose vote counts” is on UK Netflix. Very interesting watch.

From the outside, most of us have seen this CB, that it's quite an antiquated and inflexible voting system, despite being a so-called 'living document'.

It seems to me both parties have found this system beneficial... until it isn't. And I would say, no matter who wins, this system won't be changed. Both parties have held majorities in both houses to change something, so it's not just a Republican issue and that would be a false assumption.

I suppose the question is why hasn't anyone changed it?

Especially when the US constitution has amendments to it all the time.

It would be interesting to read your thoughts on it as it puzzles me about the usage of a flawed system.

I have constantly stated, to make it clear, I have thoughts on the matter. Others have answered already that I don't have the vote.

As for my own politics, I've been courted by a few parties over the years, but none have enough of my thoughts on stuff to join and there's usually a debate on issues for a couple of hours before that happens.

With that said, I was raised under a Labour household.

You should ask yourself why it is that so many folk, often with a political viewpoint not too dissimilar to yours, have come to the conclusion that there is no other option than to support Biden.

The reason is simple.

Because the choice between Biden and Trump is not primarily a political one, it's a moral one.

Once you realise that, all the neoliberal stitch up rhetoric, despite being true, is utterly irrelevant.

What a brilliant and deductive argument.

I wonder if the 50% of voter that don't vote, will, based upon this excellent reasoning.

A good, but brief, look at the systemic issues, how early is starts, follows and, ultimately, where it will be why many don't vote for either party that have a hand in disenfranchisement.

Yes, it's 'moot' apparently, so nobody gives a shit. I'm just pointing out how intertwining the snake actually is with these neolib parties building upon each other's policies.

What makes you think that over the many years of hearing this point made in one shape or another that these civilians, who have seen no change to their lives and so choose not to participate, will suddenly enter the fray in droves to support Biden...?

The choice between Gore and Bush, Kerry and Bush, McCain and Obama, Romney and Obama and Clinton and Trump, these were all political choices. Establishment choices it's true, between Tweedledee Democrat versus Tweedledum Republican, but political choices, within the narrow bandwidth permitted, nonetheless

Now, after four years of Trump, we know that in this election that's not the case, and you know it too.

If this contest were between Biden and Romney I'd be with you, fuck em, who cares.

But it's not, it's why Sanders supports Biden, it's why Chomsky supports Biden, it's why you should too.
