Of course I agree with all of that, why wouldn't I. I don't want to be labelled as someone who just blindly agrees with @Bigga or indeed with anyone else for that matter but I maintain that I can understand his stance of not seeing Biden as the answer even if his stance that Biden and Trump being broadly speaking the same is something that I can't agree with.
Unfortunately, whilst Biden might not be the long term answer, the question of who is the answer is for another day as currently there is no one else, so it's fairly pointless discussing it on a US 2020 election thread where there are only two candidates.

The problem is that it's been apparent for at least 2 1/2 years that if Trump stays in power for another term, there will never be a change, or a return to normal.

He has already appointed 217 federal judges. Out of 870.

If he is reelected, that number will top 500. And he's appointing 40 year old fundamental right wing christians who are deemed unsuitable by the American Bar Association.

When that happens, there is no path back to normal. Bigga often talks about how much he hates the neolibs, well guess what, all of those judges are the extreme embodiment of Neoliberalism.

If you care at all about consumer rights, women's rights, LGBT rights, the environment, universal healthcare or anything that Mitch McConnell doesn't personally endorse, you would never question how important it is to get Trump out of office.

If he actually cared about the things he rallies against on this forum, he'd have been supporting anyone but running against Trump for years.

Well, let's get it straight; I DID support someone other than the president.

I did not support a party that voted in sync with its opposition favouring corporations over the citizen and I've been pretty consistent with that POV.

You will find the Dem party have also voted in many of the GOP picks for judges as they did for tax bailouts and COVID relief funds.

Even Biden doesn't oppose the choice for Supreme Court, he's clear as day saying it. His issue is to 'let the people decide' and that's not his choice to make.

The US is where it is with their own unwritten rules of 'honour and decency' and the Dems keep handing over their lunch money every day.

The Dems, you could argue, created and handed the keys over to #45.

They were happy a mad man gave them tax cuts for themselves and their donors.

They're a shit party and complicit in the demise of the US.

It sounds like you want someone who isn't a millionaire or part of the system to represent you. It's a nice thought that that could happen but you're in for a long wait. They could go the Cuba route if they wanted, I suppose. I mean Castro was one of the people wasn't he? Once?

You're fucking insane.

What your saying is "Yeah, sure the Republicans and Trump are ransacking the country, killing people and fucking everything up, but the Democrats didn't break longstanding rules to stop them, so really it's all the same".

No! It's not the fucking same!

You live in this fantasy where there's a 3rd powerful party that'll fix everything and throw out both real parties. That party doesn't exist, and sitting around pretending both parties are as bad as each other is literally something the Republicans have spent billions trying to convince people in order to disenfranchise them.

If you were being objective about Trump you wouldn't be making up pathetic excuses for him and caveating every condemnation with a "but".

And I didn't mention Biden in my post so I'm not sure why you're mentioning his length of time in public service unless you're defending Trump again. Which you obviously are.

You didn't mention, I did and you were responding to that post.

If you want specific responses to specific points, quote that point specifically and there's no need for a broad response.

Or just put your fingers in your ears.

And you don't find me defending #45 on what he had to say about his tenure. I picked out one point, being objective (cos I can be), and thought he misspoke.

What a second of speech I pick out and your vitriol is out of control?!

Laughable.

The answer is Biden would assemble a properly functioning government with properly equipped and suitable people in the key departments. Not lackies and enablers, but people who would run their departments properly. Restoring legitimacy to the intelligence community would be one way that long term things would improve. The departments at present are just there to process propaganda and that is not what government is about.

I hope that I have made it clear that I agree wholeheartedly with you on this.

The fact that you take the effort to find the bit where you think he might have misspoken in the sea of vitriolic diarrhoea that comes out of his mouth explains what you're all about. And it's nothing to do with being objective.

He said stand back and stand down. If he misspoke meaning stand down then by that logic he meant to say stand down and stand down which would clearly be mental.

In my opinion he had an opportunity to denounce white supremacists but it would seem that as someone who is not politically suicidal he feels that by obfuscating he furthers his own agenda, ie by tacitly giving the proud boys etc enough fog to interpret his words as a call to arms. Judging by the reaction from said groups and further from his own tweet asking for polling overseers then I would say he has had his desired effect.

As you say we all knew how this would play.

Ah now, Doc, he said "Stand by" not "stand back" which is what everyone is freaking out over saying he meant to say it and thus why I said what I said about thinking on his feet and political suicide.

He would have to be genius to find a way of sounding a call to arms to the Pussy Boys through all the gibberish he mostly spoke of, this morning!!

A genius, he is not.

I will have to try and find it to relisten but when I heard it I believe him to have said both; "Stand by and stand back". Again, judging by the fact the the proud boys have adopted it as a new moniker then I would say that at the very least he was unclear enough to foster doubt and to foment.

Tell me a time a well established millionaire/ billionaire could tell you how much the average person earned or what they dealt with on a monthly basis? Routinely I have seen these kind of people asked questions about average life and they struggle.

A closer connection would be nice for a change.

Alright, so you haven't actually proved that the Dems haven't voted in the same way?

Did the Dems ever have the power to vote in a way that benefited the people they say the Republicans have hurt over the years?

If the voter chose #45, they must have been disenfranchised enough to get him over the line. A happy people wouldn't select a nutjob to lead them or would they??

Again, if must be hard for you to understand that you have to have certain conditions for this to happen but, apparently, I'm insane!!

I thought you were more expansive in your thinking.

It is an instruction to them made directly that they have heeded and acknowledged. It isnt a condemnation, it is a personal request to them to keep quiet for a couple of weeks. It is similar to his direct request to Russia to go and find some emails made in the debate 4 years ago.

Well Trump's neither of these, ask him.

;)

That is most equivocally my viewpoint.
