I’m not sure credit is the right word, but it needs acknowledging that he’s been less belligerent militarily than at least the last four incumbents.
Didn’t he threaten them with “fire and fury”?
I seem to recall him going on about weapons being “locked and loaded”.
The whole NK thing was a publicity stunt and photo opportunity for Trump, and achieved nothing strategically.

In fairness, The Republican ex presidential candidate in the CNN studio did.
He called it out.
He looked extremely disappointed by what he just heard.
Yeah Santorum in fairness to him was pretty scathing.

It's over for the Donald. Fox News are attempting to divorce themselves from his bollocks and the New York Post likewise. If Murdoch is distancing himself then the game is up.

Time for senior Republicans to do the same. None of them have the bollocks to though. At least not publicly.

There wasn’t going to be a war anyway. Remember if Trump says something it was more than likely a lie. Kim Jong Un has been legitimised and strengthened on the world stage and N Korea has ramped up its missile development programme so Trump deserves absolutely no credit at all. He deserves criticism for that like everything else he’s done.
maybe, maybe not. I saw it as a reasonable bit of gun boat diplomacy at the time. But i havent kept up with What NK have done since with missile development.

I’ve not mentioned NK. He’s manifestly fought less, militarily, than his predecessors and his bullshit rhetoric doesn’t change that.

Every single one of those issues you spouted happened before the Orange Gimp, including the precious Obama-Biden era.

True but Trump has exacerbated them and is clearly racist and a misogynistic twat. Not only that he's ignorant in denying climate change and scientific evidence. All he cares about is himself, which in his position makes him a liability for the US and a danger to the entire world.

Yeah because he wants to be best mates with all the dictators and despots, while falling out with all the democracies. It's hard to see that as a positive.

Even with that, the only reason they aren't currently at war with Iran is because Iran decided not to retaliate against the assassination of Suleimani. That's not exactly a positive either, he tried his best to start a war there
What he did with Suleimani was batshit crazy, but an exception to his wider MO. Your point about dictators is completely correct and is closely linked to his need to have his ego stroked. I think he probably sees war as bad for business in genteral terms. His mind operates almost exclusively on a transactional level.

Whilst it’s true that he has withdrawn from various conflicts it has always been to the advantage of enemies rather than allies. Taliban in Afghanistan, Assad and Russia in Syria, Russia in Ukraine. Allies everywhere have been weakened and autocrats emboldened.

Yeah, it’s not straightforward, hence why I did not deploy the word ‘credit‘, but equally any reduction in the US’s default mode of being the planet’s truculent enforcer has to be broadly welcomed imo, whatever the reasons behind it.

I want to agree with you and do, basically, as an outline.

All points raised could have attacked with the administration before.

What the MSM has done so cleverly is not allow anyone to look beneath the simmering boiling pot of the US. The Orange Gimp, not being a politician, just lifted it. He has almost 70M choosing him as a popular vote choice.

70M.

It's just too easy to blame the guy for holding up the mirror to the US.

People just want to put the mirror down/ the lid back on the pot and "go back to normal". I hope you give the Jimmy Dore vid a watch/ listen and you'll understand the issues from a working class position.

Very few on here care enough to understand the current situation and its future implications.

His jaunt to N.Korea was a dick waving exercise designed to try and engineer himself a Nobel Peace Prize (because Obama has one).

There was nothing more to it than that, and it spectacularly backfired.

A day's ride? New Hampshire to Georgia? On a Harley maybe.

Wasn't the delay till inauguration because of getting the results in?
The first inauguration, in 1789, took place on April 30th, as they couldn’t get enough congress members to turn up any earlier. They then decided on March 4th as, apparantly, that was the date they’d worked out was the least likely to fall on a Sunday in future years. (Even now, a Sunday date is a private swearing in with the inauguration the next day).
This period is where the phrase ‘lame duck’ President came from and congress decided, in 1932, that the transition period needed to be reduced. Senate wanted January 15th and Representatives January 24th. They compromised on January 20th, which then became the 20th amendment and is now the date.
I‘d imagine this years shenanigans might make them think again, as there is a real possibility of either 2 months of absolutely nothing being done or, of course, 2 months of The Trumper ‘doing’ a huge amount, neither of which can be a good outcome. Of course all that becomes a moot point, should he somehow prevail......
