The US are a laughing stock... a mob walk into the State Capitol, the 5 officers with water pistols are overwhelmed. The National Guard haven’t shown up 3 hours later. Hard to think the law enforcement agencies are not complicit in this. This will be seized upon around the World and the US reputation is in tatters. It’s President has declared war on the constitution. Doesn’t look like there’s been a single arrest... contrast this to the Vietnam or BLM protests !

Not that I think you are doing this but, regardless of the ultimate outcome, insurrectionists forcibly took the chamber of the US Senate (and many of the police seemed to just let them do it), so we should all work against efforts to downplay the significance of this event, lest we do Trump’s work for him.

A maniac whose been tolerated by the GOP but of course they are all expressing surprise tonight.... you play with fire you will get burned. Trump is a dictator and his supporters have all the hallmarks of the Nazis in 1939s Germany. This may not be the end of Trumpism but the start of armed insurrection.

Actually, that sounds... familiar. I may once have believed something like that.

I wonder how people cope with that then?

I suppose it could be worse. We've got our homes, and food, and family and friends. We could be one of those poor starving countries, or be scared of an invasion.

I mean, you can't have everything you want, can you? People will always be people. Best just get on with it.

They didn't just stand still, there's videos of them getting selfies with the mob inside the building.

That's the bit people should be most worried about, a lot of the police are as full on Trumpers as the mob
