2020 was generally sh*t, but have you any/many highlights ?

When things relaxed in the summer, my two sets of Grandaughters visited for the first time since lockdown, they hadn’t seen each other for months either so watching them play together in the front garden was just bloody lovely.

we have a curved mono block curved path and the Four of them coloured each brick in with different coloured chalks. It looked like a rainbow after they finished and lasted for days after until the rain washed It away.

that was my highlight soft old sod that I am.

2018 & 2019 were pretty shit for me but 2020 saw me start a brilliant new job that I absolutely love, working with a great group of colleagues. I also became a grandfather in July, just after the CAS verdict, then my daughter got married a couple of weeks ago. Compared to those previous 2 years I'm physically & financially healthy so 2020 gave me a lot to be grateful for.

Highlights for me

Changing our work, we stopped our normal work and changed to collecting and delivering food to our local foodbanks for 5 months.

Going with my son to Wembley for the lc final.

Making it to 60 !

City being cleared by CAS.

not many highlights really ! Watched more tv than normal found I really like 'Not going Out' and ' would I lie to you ' lol

'working' from home. Sat in my pants with half an eye on the work laptop while binge-watching Netflix.

Highlights were taking my 13 year old lad to Germany for a football weekend back in January.

After Covid, it was barbecues in the garden with my missus and all 3 kids. One night we spent almost all night talking about the happiest times we’ve spent with each individual in the family. We all had to choose a particular time when it was just two of us, for example - I had to think of my happiest time with each of the other four.

We then went round and all talked about our happiest time with the youngest (daughter) and so on.

It really opened my eyes to the love between us all.

Got married the day of the first lockdown being announced. Boris announced it during the reception. We made the awful decision to stop elderly family and vulnerable people attending so they were safe. Would like to think it was a good decision in the end as they are all still with us now.

had our honeymoon to Florida cancelled twice, lost a few grand on it, but actually had a few days in Blackpool instead haha. It was actually enjoyable after being locked up for months

We managed to save enough money to move to our dream house. It was never possible but with the money saved working from home, and the refunds for cancellations of holidays we were able to do it. It went from just getting our house valued and then sold the same day it went on the market for a lot more than we expected.

While it’s been a shit year for not seeing friends and family, we are just grateful that everyone I still know and care about are healthy. Best part of the year was my grandparents getting their vaccine a few weeks before Christmas and the us self isolating for 10 days in the run up just so we could have them round on Christmas Day.

Really Hope I don’t have to ever go back into the office. Working from home has worked really well, and seem to have so much more time now without sitting in the traffic twice A day

one Last thing, i used to play football three times a week but stopped about 7 years ago. Started playing regularly when we were allowed and its one thing I look forward to every week. Just an hour of 5 a side a week has Worked wonders for my mental health.

The highlight for me during first lockdown was the weather.
Spent the best part of 3 months in the garden with the wife and dog. We ate, slept, dug and planted, danced and sang in glorious sunshine.
I 're-connected' with my mrs and saw all the shit her illness creates on a daily basis. We have made plans now that will, hopefully, improve both our lives and lead to even more carefree(ish) sunnt days.

Saw City win at wembley
Got a few big jobs done in the house
Worked right through and had a very successful year in work
Saved loads of money on petrol by WFH
Finished my degree and got a 1st
Managed to not catch covid (I think)
Bought lots of trainers
Didn't have to see the mother in law very much

Started the year with a trip to Costa Rica which was great and also managed a holiday in Wales during the respite in summer. Made the annual trip to Wembley, my oldest son graduated from Uni with a 2:1, my youngest son stayed employed in his apprenticeship despite COVID and my wife sort of retired. I stayed shit at golf having taken it up in 2019 but did manage the odd par to keep me interested.
