2022 Commonwealth Games

Not much doubt in the women's triathlon - 40+ second win in 54 minutes, almost all made during the run.
Flora Duffy from Bermuda is a superstar.

Watching the netball on catch-up. Australia thrashing Barbados.
Aussies look like a team of super models.

Watching the mens para cycling, theyre on tandems as the person is visually impaired but it seems the pilot is the one doing all the work and isnt even named. The welsh guys pilot had legs like tree trunks and he was weedy fella getting a backy.

We should spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves.

He’s still Welsh, after all.

Best bit of the ceremony that, he's not far off the mark (he did say 'government' not British people).
Not really in to the 'performance art' stuff really. Not a massive Black Sabbath fan, though the ballet 'mash up' was interesting(only really liked their stuff with Dio...sorry Ozzy!!) Geezer can certainly play that axe though Lenny Kravitz still looks as cool as fuck too when he said his bit.
Why did they not get The Goat to do the same for Bermuda??
On another City theme, it was interesting seeing the Commonwealth games stadium/COMS from 2002. I remember at the time thinking how strange it will be playing our home games there.
Apologies to proper Sabbath fans, wasn't Geezer Butler, it was Tony Iommi wasn't it!

Bad crash in the track cycling with the rider and bike landing in the crowd. Hope all make a speedy recovery.

Birmingham is a big sprawling mess, Manchester is compact and welcoming.
Have to say, after many years of not going, I've been to Birmingham three times in the past 18 months and have been impressed, I like the city. There's been much change, like Manchester, and some of its been done quite well.

I've just been to the beach volleyball at Smithfield & it was entertaining & well organised. The stewards all wear big foam hands & kept looking for "high 5s" from my great nephews, which they loved. The funny thing was hearing Brummies asking for "hoi foives".
The presenter in the stadium was a tad annoying in an over American sort of way, but overall, I was really impressed & Birmingham looked the best I've ever seen it

Alice Tai winning gold in the S8 100m backstroke yesterday and hearing her backstory is such an amazing achievement. Missed the Tokyo Paralympics as she needed surgery on both elbows due to having to use crutches. Decided to have an amputation of one of her legs at below the knee that was causing her to be in constant pain. That was in January. Has had to basically rebuild her strokes and she's still not really learnt to compensate for the missing limb yet but came back to competition in June for the Para-Worlds, taking silver medal in the 100m freestyle. Even she was surprised by the time in which she won the gold.
