2022 World Cup Discussion

You're very welcome sir.

Is now the time to lump a grand on England to win it based on Pep....Can any statistician confirm, as I heard it somewhere.......that when Pep managed Bayern, Germany won the WC...when Pep managed Barca, Spain won it and now he's at the Etihad...... is it a cert.

Apart from Brazil narrowing at the expense of Argentina, pretty much all the fancied European teams are more or less the same price as before a ball was kicked.

Spain had Del Bosque as manager, Germany had Löw. We have Southgate so probably not.

But he was also at City during the last World Cup...

Not going to start a new thread, but I would be curious to know - what do people think of this World Cup so far (I believe we are half-way through).

Can we keep the views to the football and leave aside the politics and indeed the fact it is in November/December.

Purely on the football, the stadiums, the TV coverage, what do people think?

My view is I think its been pretty good. Yes there have been several nil:nils, but on the other hand there have been some exciting high scoring games and quite a few big shocks.

The air-conditioning seems to be working - the games are not as frenetic as PL matches, but international matches never are, even in colder places. The fans seem to be there in numbers and I love to see the people dressed up with the colours of their countries & faces painted etc. Plus like in previous world cups the people on the cameras seem to have a knack of finding attractive ladies jumping up and down during quiet spells (I like the jumping up and down).

The politics side leaves a bad taste but as a sporting event, so far it’s been brilliant - very good coverage from the BBC and ITV to add
