2022 World Cup Discussion

Seems like defensive football is getting rewarded in the international tournaments.

Morocco and Croatia both play defensively and France plays a brand of counterattacking football.

Makes me wonder if someone like Mourinho would do well with an international side.

I think this is true for a couple of reasons.

There is less time to prepare an international team and a lot more work needs to go into developing attacking play than organising a defensive structure.

The other thing which I think has happened is that FIFA have run scared of losing players due to sendings off and repeat bookings.
There appears to me to be a lot of niggly fouls that stifle attacks that go sometimes ignored and very rarely booked which has hampered sides trying to attack.
I've not been impressed with the referees.

am so glad it's over for England, I can watch the world cup by the BBC update and maybe just watch the final

so crazy to host the world cup in the winter, but now we can put to bed the reason why we don't win the world cup in the summer, because of the Premier League and the amount of games we play and players are burnt out.
