It’s bonkers that the team has been leaked 15 hours before kick off.

I’m expecting the team to play Wales to be announced at half time this afternoon.

The bollocks our press keep coming out with, it seems the bbc build yesterday was very politically I believe.

No one moans about big sporting events in Russia, America etc.

American has just recently banned abortions in some states, taking the knee comes from America, police shot non whites on a daily basis.

But these are committed by white Americans so our press/media ignore it. These Arab countries put more money into the uk than I would guess America.

But now that they have the WC it's free rain to criticism they human rights record. The figures on migration works that have died is twisted to make it sound like they are died building for the WC. This is a lie.

I am sick to death of all these people taking the high moral ground, yet happy to go there and earn big money. Not one has the power of their convictions. Not one.

We have high homelessness, foodbanks, kids living in poverty some going hungry and without a bed to sleep. Poor mentally health, nurses covered worked and underpaid.
Yet we have lots of millionaires the gap between the haves and have nots is getting bigger by the day.
This country has no right to criticise other countries

Just make every player come out in an arm band.

Although I guess the players care more about the world cup than us fans do. I'd rather they just fucked it off and didn't bother.
 
For those watching the Fox Sports broadcast in the USA... I thought that John Strong and Stu Holden did a decent job in their commentary. I've long been a huge critic of US announcing - but kudos, so far, to Fox Sports for getting this right, so far.

The point he is making that it's hard to watch when the BBC have done nothing more than be political and try to prove just how against the WC they are whilst sending a small army of freeloaders over to enjoy it.

That being said I am watching it waiting for a car crash because I can't see this festival of handwringing being disrupted by football of any note ;)

There are rules against political statements on shirts. In my view rightly so. There’s already far too much politics getting dragged into places it doesn’t belong. Just play the games ffs.

The England or the FA team didn’t pick Qatar, but that’s where the competition is. Just go and play there, that’s not an endorsement of a regime or its policies. It’s just a place where the games are happening. There’s no need to engage with local politics or to try change the world. If someone asks about gay rights or whatever, it’s fine to express a view - probably one based on the modern English values of tolerance and live and let live, etc. There’s no need to go out of the way to talk about this. It’s a non issue in England, except perhaps amongst a few bigots and certain religious communities which are a small minority.

Just go represent England (there’s already an England badge on the shirt so no need for extra symbols and armbands, etc). The England badge should embody our nation and its values completely. There’s no need to pick out certain elements and give those particular emphasis. If any values exist in England then they’re represented by the three lions.
