2023 Grand National

A joke? I don't believe you. And whilst we "are here" answer the question.
Erm ok.
No I don't think doctors who perform abortions should be forced to have an abortion. Is that supposed to be some kind of gotcha moment lol?

And docking dog's tails is already illegal anyway.

It's not a "gotcha" moment. It's replying to your "joke" that jockeys be whipped.
So tell us what you think should happen to people who ride horses in the GN then.
Or any people who treat animals in a way that is artificial compared to the way they are supposed to live.
You weren't "joking" at all. It's what you do; spouting shite and railing against the world.
The Perfect Fumble had the measure of you, and so do I.

Wow, it's not difficult to boil your piss is it. I can assure you, it was a flippant remark, but keep crying mate.

Think the best way to settle it is that the jockey gets whipped after the race as many times as they whipped the horse. Fair's fair.
Aside from it being an intentionally amusing comment, no I don't think it is a case of 'fair's fair'.

The circumstances are very different. There have been cases highlighted, where a recalcitrant horse has been witnessed getting struck with a riding crop outside of a race and that was definitely not accepted behaviour from the equine world.

As I pointed out, using the cushioned, padded whip on a 1200lb horse while racing, would probably be less painful than me getting a knock while playing football. Take the two same instances out of the sporting, competitive environment and the feeling would be different, certainly from my perspective.

I don't think the whip of today has any detrimental effect on a horse.

I used to love racing, not a big gambler on it but loved at day at the races and having a flutter on the big races and especially Cheltenham
Honestly though the last couple of years I’m finding I struggle to watch the jumps as I’m just on edge in case I see one go down, the sight of it just goes right through me

That's interesting. Genine question, what's the rationale behind them having a limit on its use then?

Appearance.

Personally I quite like the new whip regulations.
Doesnt seem like great PR management. If they're concerned about how the optics come across to people who don't know about the harmlessness of the whip, by putting a limit on its use they're creating the impression that it does hurt. And also I think the typical layperson isn't counting anyway. They just see horses being repeatedly whipped. Interesting nonetheless.

From today.

Push it along to the 6m 10sec mark and you tell me if you think it's out of order or excessive. Perhaps we view it from a different perspective.

They're putting a limit on because of the optics, not abuse of the horse. That said, nobody wants abuse of the horse anyway, those days have gone.
