2026 Rugby League Season

With all the end of season City stuff going on: FA Cup semi and final, Bernardo and Stones leaving, a sniff of a title race and Pep leaving… I’d forgotten about this thread. But that was a great game the other day!

I don’t have a preference with SOO. I know it’s more of an English thing to support Queensland but I like both teams, both kits being City’s traditional home and away colours for each team, always liked players from both sides (although I did have a spell of wanting NSW to win when when Cameron Smith was playing for QLD because I hated that snide bastard!)… so, often don’t mind who wins.

Good day of RL today:
Newcastle just beat Parramatta but only caught the end
Wests v Canterbury is on at 8.30am
Melbourne v Sydney is on at 10.35am
Then it’s the Challenge Cup Final at 3pm on BBC1

Yep, that’s the proper cup final today pal.
 
Wigan made that look easy yesterday. Are they a fitter side? Rovers looked like they couldn’t cope with the heat.

Top two in the NRL are on now: Penrith v New Zealand

Tragic news.

Such a lovely guy. Had the pleasure to work with him a few times in the last few years and was there this weekend on the commentary gantry at Wembley with him. John always took the time to say hello and say thanks and shake my hand as he did again on Saturday after the game.

A true Gentleman and a legend of the game. Will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace John.
 
Very sad this news. While 71 isn’t young, John Kear never seemed to age and looked as young at 71 as he did at at 51.

Really decent bloke. Will get a respectful silence at every game this weekend, he’s one of those proper rugby league men who everyone respected.
