The weight of the Austrian nation , the world of of Skiing looking at him and he delivered the downhill of all time.
When asked at the end of the race " thought I was going to die"

One of my 3 sporting heroes , alongside Seve Ballesteros and Dan Marino.

I ski a lot and this is still amazing to watch

As I kid I came off the stepladder I was on (putting up Christmas decorations) when Konrad Bartelski nearly did it at Val Gardena.

For the time, the womens skiers were given a decent level of coverage too...I can remember (spellings aside) Rosie Mittermair, Annmarie Moser Proll and Bernadette Zubriggen, who had a little brother who turned out decent too!
