2026 World Cup Discussion

Maybe controversial, but I am looking forward to the expanded format.

I am skeptical of the logistics. I'm all for having joint bids but Canada, the US, and Mexico are all huge with very little public transportation. There's lots of ground to cover between venues. It'll be interesting.

I am very much not looking forward to continuously hearing how the US is the root of all evil and wrongdoing in the world.

I’m wondering if they will install pitch side air conditioning in the stadiums for the players like they did in Qatar

I’m not sure where the stadiums will be, but Mexico in the summer is no joke in terms of heat, as are states like Florida and California.

A lot of countries are going to struggle in that summer heat in those places otherwise

That was probably as much to do with it not being at the end of a long season tbf, temperatures were still pretty high, something like 24C and humid too.
Weren't games played in semi-closed stadiums with controlled conditions?

Mexico City is at altitude; should be beautiful weather. It’s the rainy season in Guadalajara. But Monterrey can be toasty. Never know in SF or LA but SoFi in LA is near the ocean so not usually too bad and Levi’s in SF is near the Bay so both can get water breezes, or in LA, even the marine layer (though not in the afternoon). But in Miami and the other US cities save Seattle, heat and humidity could always be a problem. But MLS manages somehow and I’m sure water breaks will be part of things if need be. I know NRG in Houston is domed (seen City twice there) and maybe a few others are.
