2026 World Cup Draw - Friday 5pm (UK time)

Not sure that having 48 teams is going to be a problem tbh, you're all going to be lapping it up during those group stages where there's a few games each day.

The politics around it is easy to ignore, I'm just looking fw to the high stakes football for that month.

Is the tournament longer with the increase in teams?

Do your own draw!

Just had a go - 3 'highlights'

Mouthwatering Group A - Mexico, Tunisia, Austria, Jordan.

England's Group K - England, Egypt, Colombia and Jamaica (simulated as a playoff qualifier)

Oh, and Group G, which would be worth a watch - Brazil, Norway, Australia, Italy....

Seriously though, there are so many crap groups that nobody would bother watching, they've killed the tournament by expanding it to 48 teams.
Just had a go at that draw....Group F Argies, Scotland, Denmark (can they go in with Scotland again) & Iran is the best of all the groups....Eng, Jamaica, Saudi & Monaco, how will I sleep waiting for those games.

Not sure if it's longer, but it's more tedious...

There's probably going to be a whole round of knockout matches with few big matches that sound exciting too. Probably be a decent tournament when they get it down to the last 8...

Pretty sure we've not been in the same group as Brasil since 1970.
1982 - David Neary scored a cracker far too early it just wound them up
1998 - opened the tournament - seem to remember we had chances to win it
1974 - Bremner should have won it for us - kneed it past the post when it was easier to score.
1970 - We had a wee break

Burma, now known as Myanmar has long been mired in murder, rape, torture and ethnic cleansing.
It gets little coverage in the UK but they are systematically wiping out the Rhohinga people. They are embroiled in a messy civil war with other ethnic minorities who are persecuted and so fighting back. The countries human rights record is a disgrace.

I mention it because guess who Infant Tino and his corrupt cronies have elected to Chairman of Social Responsibilities, a bloke called Zaw Zaw the Chairman of Burmas football federation. He has been sanctioned for various reasons by the US and the e.u. regarding his and his countries human rights record.

Normally I would not bring politics into football but this world cup is a disgraceful stain on a beautiful game.

If you do want to watch it for just the draw, here are the estimated times:

17:00 Opening musical performance
17:10 FIFA president introduction
17:15 Second musical performance
17:25 Awarding of the Peace Prize
17:30 Presentation of the FWC26 trophy
17:35 Host nation leaders take the stage
17:40 Third musical performance to be determined
17:45 to 18:50 Draw proceedings
18:50 Closing musical performance

All times are posted in GMT

So, avoid at least the first 45mins.

Sorry. Just assumed you were talking about England.

I suspect the toughest opponent in the group stage for any of these will be Scotland.

Would laugh if England's group ends up being a group of death with Uruguay,Norway, and Ghana.
Italy will be automatically a Pot 4 team if they get through the play offs. That could be a tricky group for whoever gets them. Denmark as well, would have been Pot 2 if they'd qualified direct but will be Pot 4 if they get through.

Ignore the politics and the leftist American hatred! It was all there in 1993. Yet that competition was imo much better than the subsequent ones in Korea/Japan, Germany, South Africa, Brazil, Russia. I thought Qatar was good.

The Americans know how to stage big stuff! It is our fault how we cannot cope with heat!

Quite right!

Over a 5 week tournament add in a couple of mass killing shootings, A dozen executive orders(with a real pen), 4/5 hour matches, A press secretary telling the world that the president has given us the best World Cup ever, 500 dollar seats, I can hardly wait.

The best in all the land and all the World.
