This lad's peak would be scary if he finds consistency and improvement in certain areas. What he already has is natural finishing, excellent in front of goal. I could see him become a striker, has all the attributes
Torres is indeed good in front of goal - but he's missing something... He's gifted for sure - but do we want him as a first choice starter in our best 11? Now or in the near future?
===
Keep Torres for the next 2 years or so and let's see how he develops (or not).

2 years from now he’ll be starter. Probably less than a year from now.

Either that - or he'll be sold... not clear to me which way it will go.

That said, Torres has a problematic skillset - he's awesome, currently, as a poacher/midfielder coming into the box to score.

But he's not a striker.

And on the wing, he's not especially gifted at beating his man and delivering a cross.

At midfield - I don't think he's an exceptional passer/defender.

So - it's not really clear to me how he fits in our side - save that he may develop his skillset to fit into a winger/striker first choice in the future.

City rarely buy senior squad players and sell within a year or 2, most PL clubs don't unless for financial profit, there is no draft system, players usually sign 3 to 5 year contracts which can be extended by mutual agreement. Torres or any other player will not be sold within their contract term except for very specific reasons. Torres is 21 and 2 months old, a full Spanish international already, and considered to date to be a right winger. He is at the very beginning of his Senior career, how can you claim he is or is not a striker/winger/midfielder, he may become one or all 3 of these in the coming seasons. He's played 1,115 PL minutes and you state "But he's not a striker." "he's not especially gifted at beating his man and delivering a cross.", "At midfield - I don't think he's an exceptional passer/defender.", which games have you seen where he played in midfield for long enough to judge whether he can pass or defend. He is on the first step of his career path so respectfully it is not clear to anyone how he "fits in our side" over the course of hopefully a potential 15 year stay at City, he will change, our tactics and demands will change, managers, other players, injuries will impact him. You stated "but he's missing something", he is still physically and mentally growing, very inexperienced granted but what source of enlightenment are you gifted with to judge a 21 yr. old footballer on and state what he is or isn't, you are entitled to express your opinion based on what you see but statements such as "he's not a striker." and "he's not especially gifted..." are not facts, they are just your personal opinion.

City boss Guardiola has told reporters of a Spain international who was on target again in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last time out: "Ferran has scored a lot of goals, but today was first game is I saw that he can handle the physicality of the Premier League.

"He was a little boy and now he is a man, when you have this aggression in the Premier League it is good."

He gets the benefit of the doubt for this season, but his ability to just go missing for almost the entire game is astounding.

He needs to start catching up.
