I’m 99% sure that in 2 years Torres will be the better player. Sane took very long time to settle, and was absolute dogshit for at least 40% of his games even after a couple seasons. Most inconsistent player in the Pep era by a mile.

Torres’ movement and finishing is top class. He need a little more time to settle and get in form. Cancelo, Bernardo and Rodri looked WAY better in their second season

He is 20 and even more experienced players like Rodri, Cancelo, Bernardo took a year before we saw the best of them as players. As you say the end of next season will be a better barometer to judge him as a player.

Personally I think he has something about him and will do well here.

Sorry, but hes miles behind Sane in athleticism, agility and skill level, at the same age. Those are not going to magically improve by huge amounts.

We have definite downgrade here pretty much. I might sound very harsh but I think we just took the cheap option to replace Sane for some reason.
He may well be but Sane never got any better, and well into his mid 20s probably won't. Torres is firstly far better than he showed today and will improve to become better than Sane.

Yes, no matter how many times we get given the lesson of players ,especially young ones, taking a good year to fit in and prove their worth. Some people seem incapable of learning the lesson and showing the patience required. Luckily they don't work for the club.

Foden is Sané’s replacement. He looks a miles better left forward than he does attacking mid.

I think the cheap option comes from Torres coming in as a squad player. He’s third choice in both wide forward positions (behind Foden and Sterling on the left and behind Mahrez and Sterling on the right)... at the moment!

Mahrez is 30 though, Torres will be second choice to Sterling on the right soon enough (if we don’t improve on Sterling at any point).

Player’s develop the most from 20-23 though. And playing under Pep it takes players a season to get used to things.

So let’s see where Torres is in the next few years.

20 years old, first time out of Spain, first year in a Pep team, doesn't play much so he's out form...and people are in here complaining immediately after the game. Some of you never learn.

ive seen enough to know this lad is going to be a very good player. he might be better central.

doesnt deserve any grief. Hes hardly played at all and is thrown in with a mixed up team.

de bruyne misses 3 games and was dreadful. How can we expect the lad to come in to a vastly changed side after god knows how long not playing and be a superstar?

You might end up being correct, but there is currently absolutely no evidence to suggest he will be half as good as Sane, never mind better than him.

poor today. Appreciate he's not been given many opportunities but you need to be training at a level to be somewhat ready to step in when needed, and he was miles off.
