I don‘t know. He scored there but I am still not convinced him being a world beater in the future. If he doesn‘t score u don‘t see him. Doesn‘t matter if he‘s on the wing or as a striker. It‘s like playing 10vs 11 until he scores.
which is different than how other players (grealish, sterling, foden) have played when playing as striker this season for us.. how? oh yeah, the difference is that he scores. they looked as invisible playing that position if not more!

Torres proved a point to Pep saying: I would’ve put away at least a few chances in any of the past three PL games.

It isn't even about his finishing I'd guess, so tonight would likely prove nowt. Pep knows he can do that. He likely just wants more from him overall. That'll be the point Pep is making by keeping him out of the side right now.

Two top quality finishes there. That first one looks good but is even better than it looks.

I really don't understand why people constantly link the performances of players on international duty to their city performances though, and that goes for both good and bad performances. nobody on the international scene plays like Pep.

we wouldn't put in that kind of ball for his first goal and we wouldn't attack that quickly for his second.

But maybe we should

Then why is everyone clamouring for a striker?

Those are chances created for "strikers", if Pep doesn't want us to create chances like this then we shouldn't bother pursuing one.

False 9 is great and all and I've been a big fan of it, but never hurts to have a real 9 and play in service to our striker.

Our current system is more in service to creating chances for the wingers with the striker making our attack click. I don't mind that, but people thinking that "If we just had a striker" would solve all of our problems are really misinformed, because your right, we don't play this way, but we should sometimes when we change things mid game.

I think the critics who wonder why Pep doesn't play him should realise that City saw something in him in the first place, and presumably that included Pep. It's not as if Pep hasn't played him. He started him in the side this season.

I refer to the nonsense I have read elsewhere rather than opinions on here.

I hope he scores in the final to send his confidence sky high.

Look at how many defenders were in the box for both of his goals.

Now compare that to how many are in the box when we play.

We play against packed defences so it's harder for players to score, imo.
His back - heeled volley goal against Newcastle,. At st james Patk maybe undermines the point your trying to make..
