Walker is equally concerning. Cancelo's injury has helped either, can't expect a title challenge with a make shift defence
 
You know its bad when I can make a case for delph and zinchecko arguably playing more important roles for the side playing in a position unfamiliar to them than the actual £50 million lb that was signed for it in the last 3 years. Part of it obviously not his fault due to injuries but he was and has never been good enough. My initial impression of him even before his signing was that he was a kolarov with pace. A good offensive player with bad positioning and awareness in defence but even that was doing a disservice to kolarov. He is not the teams' biggest problem at the moment but its been clear for quite a while now that he should be moved on.
 
Needs to go. A bit harsh and highly unlikely anyone would pay him the wages he is currently on but has not deserved a place in the squad since his injury problems.

You're right - he's never been a good defender.

Thing is though that people tend to overlook that when you contribute in the other side of the game. He used to. He doesn't any more. As a result, he's rightfully copping it deluxe.
 
Stands high and wide and passes it backwards or loses it and can’t get back .

If we were seriously looking at a title challenge we’d be signing a replacement now and loaning out Mendy until his contact expires as we won’t get a fee for him

Can’t we furlough him? He‘s looking like a geriatric Sunday League player...and not just today. Feel sorry for the lad but he’s finito.
 
Shame, but tbh he's not able to play to our standard anymore.

Walker isn't a footballer as well but he has pace, and if doesn't have brainfarts it's just enough.

Mendy only plays as Cancelo is out.
Horrible today. 1 good cross for Delap.
