22 | Vitor Reis - 2025/26 (on loan at Girona)

We are doing the United thing. Keeping certain players for too long. Last year it was the midfield this year it’s going to be the defense. Wouldn’t surprise me if Khusanov asks for a loan too. The club needs to sell Stones and Akanji.
100%. We don't know how to rebuild after our treble and we are holding on to players to long.

Gundo, Stones, Akanji, and probably Ake need to be moved on last season

What's the point of buying young players anymore?
Same people who say Savinho/Doku aren't good enough, Rico is shit and Bobb needs a loan as his development has stalled

When we play youth for more than 5 games you start to see their inexperience and then the "fans" jump on their back saying they aren't good enough

This season, there is no route to the first team for Reis without someone leaving.

A loan makes sense

Highlights even more what a poor job Txiki did in his last years here. Some of these contracts are crazy.

Feel bad for the lad, I’m sure he wasn’t brought in to go out on loan only six months later

I guess this time next year Stones will be out of contract so there will be a spot for him

I think it would have been well within the plans. Unless all of a sudden we lost Stones, Ake and Akanji there’s no space .

There may be an agreement in principle pending departures. I think this may be a wait and see.
Those criticising an inability to 'get rid' have no inside knowledge whatsoever. Contracts and negotiations do not take place on Twitter. It takes time, and the window has plenty left in it.
I think Reis is a talent, so I hope he remains in the CFG, with us, or with the group.

There will be a spot for him if he performs.
We have Simpson Pusey and Bah also on loan.
Max Alleyne possibly coming through.
Be interesting to see how they all get on next season.

Anyone who thought we would go in the season with Reis instead of some experienced CB like Akanji doesn't get Pep and the club. The aim is to compete for the biggest trophies, not to have the youngest team in the PL.

Reis is likely to be a great investment, but he is too young to displace the other CBs. After a season or two at Girona he might be ready to be a starter at City. Maybe already next season. I think he's more likely to succeed here than Khusanov, who has impressive physical attributes but seems a bit limited on the ball.

He's 19, has signed for the most successful English team the last decade, has bagged himself a lucrative deal that expires in 2029 and is about to move to a team in the top Spanish league where he should get gametime and come back a much better player

Cant say I feel bad for him, sure hes a smart kid he knew Dias, Gvardiol, Akanji, Stones, Ake, Khusanov where here...he knew his time is probably not this season

Ake and Stones should have been sold , we are paying 2 players who will most certainly miss at least 30 percent of the season.
Or it could be a statement of confidence in Stones? Sometimes you just have to work with the bids you have so I don't see how we can make informed comments on the ins and outs.

I like him but there is simply no room in the squad and the chances of us playing such a young player in the Premier League are minimal

Hopefully the loan will do him good and when he comes back at least 2, maybe 3, of the current CB options will be gone

I remember when we had a young Savic, and he was very unconvincing. Within a couple of years he developed into a very good player. It's better he plays regular football than sits on our bench. If Dias, Gvardiol and Stones are fit, he's realistically not getting past them, and there's Khusanov too who has more experience. I think it's probably a good move. I would have preferred that he stayed in the Premier League but if he's physically not quite ready, he might have been damaged by the experience of playing for a struggling Premier League side.

£30m to loan him out 6 months later. I get it from his perspective because he wants game time.

But the fact others are being kept over him getting a chance is a bit…sad.

Unless (and I hope it’s this) it’s because nobody is biting at the other CBs.
