24 | Joško Gvardiol - 2025/26

And not without asking for premium

If Gvardiol wants to go really he can but we will ask for the price we paid

And the rest - we’re under no pressure to sell as he’s not in his final year yet, we’re in a World Cup year (and a condensed window), with a new Manager coming in and other priorities to address in the squad.

Any Club would have to make it worth the hassle for us to even think about it this summer.

Thing with two years left on a contract is if the player doesn’t sign you have that thought he been tapped up by a club to go there on a free! I feel that’s how the likes of Madrid and Barcelona get the top quality players now because they can’t off us 100m for him as they could years ago because they are skint!

Like Rodri will Madrid’s pay us the money this summer? Or wait till next year on a free?

Of course - that shit goes on all the time. Particularly with the Clubs you mentioned.

And it works with a year left on a player’s contract, as the ‘buying’ Club can reasonably (just about) wait a season to get a key player in on a free for a key position in the team.

But realistically, no Club is hanging about holding/not filling a critical role in their first team for two years, waiting for a player to run down their contract.

There’s way too much uncertainty in that scenario for any serious Club.

And the reality is most selling Clubs will buckle, because they need to max out the fee potential for the player.

City aren’t in that position, so can afford to sit it out. We can wait a year, and see if we can convince him in that time.

And if not - we sell in summer ‘27, when he’s still got a year to run.

So any Club that wants Gvardiol this summer is going to have to make it at a price worth all the hassle in an already challenging window for us.

Given Bayern's previous, when every member of their squad, from the manager to the laundry woman, took it in turns, over a 12 month period, to tell Das Bild what a great player Leroy Sane was and how he'd fit right in, I'd say the chances of them already having tapped Gvardiol up, are a 100% racing certainty.
If we're losing Johnny Boulders and Bernie and there's additional doubts over Rodri, who only has one year left on his contract, then I sincerely hope we change tack on our previous "if he wants to go, let him" policy - at least until such time as Maresca has taken full stock of his options - and invite Bayern to go forth with much vigour.....

I think we might have trouble holding onto Josko as he wants to go unless we massively overpay him.. better than Dias and Guehi who's on 250k a week.

But how many of those contracts can you hand out and Rodri's still not signed.

Don't forget Khusanov and Nunes need a new deal too.

If the club decides to move Donnarumma on, well his salary would go a long way to keeping Josko.

If it’s just about money then we have a decision to make. However, if he doesn’t want to be here, we will replace him.

For me, Gvardiol is our highest quality player behind a fit Rodri.

We could give him Grealish’s money since he’ll be off.

I know it is nonsense and not based on anything. But Mourinho has always wanted to coach Kova and there is a lot of noise about Josko and Real Madrid.

Think he’s gone tbh . Too much noise surrounding him and Rodri but we need to get top dollar if we let go but you never no he might want to see what Maresca has to offer .

Barcelona linked as well.
Ideal situation would be to keep him
Next ideal situation would be to sell him at £100m given our outlay and his potential

I like Josko but think we did fine without him. IF he wants to go and IF we get huge money £85M-£100M for him. Absolutely take it and wish him well

I rate the guy but if we are offered huge money then take it, not sure who can afford that outlay though
