Had a good game overall but he's completely at fault for that goal and cost us 2 points. Ederson would have been massacred if that were him.

Trying to blame the defence makes no sense. He hasn't gone clean through, even if youre saying its a mistake in the back line, Gvardiol gets back and is forcing Martinelli to go wide. If the keeper isn't out of position, Gvardiol either pushes him right out wide away from danger or he tries to hit it from a very difficult angle where you'd always back the keeper to comfortably save it. He was miles out of position and it's cost us the win.

It's poor by Ake and Gvardiol mainly - can't be sure who most as it comes down to the communication between them. Another issue is the amount of time Eze had to pick the pass without any pressure, but both issues may well have been due to the odd formation we ended up in. Donnarumma being a bit out of position was just another factor.

He saved us a few times and was just trying to close the angle down on Martinelli. Unfortunately it’s a brilliant finish. Just one of those things.

But, dare I say, that defensive performance from the side stems from the confidence they have in the guy in the sticks behind them.

On another note, was it possible to sign him before the Spurs game ? I doubt we would've lost against them and Brighton with him, could prove decisive at the end of the seaosn.

I’ve just watched it back and it’s nothing like an Eddie scenario. When the ball gets played over, Donna is on his penalty spot, likely because for some unknown reason, the defence has suddenly decided to play a high line. Donna then tries to go back, Eddie I expect would have done the opposite and come forward towards the ball/Martinelli. Donna ends up in a neither here nor there position but I maintain that sudden change in our defensive setup, was the main issue with the goal. If we drop off, as we had for 90 mins, not only do they not score that goal, they don’t even play the ball over the top, because there would be nothing on.

He's been done by a superb finish.. the blame for goal can be found up the other end of the pitch.

Another very good performance overall.. he's elevated the entire defence, defence far more proactive than it used to be, like they have confidence that any mistakes are far less likely to get punished.

I completely agree. He’s a big boy, got a mouth on him and a CV to match

Seems very similar to when we signed Dias(and Andy Morrison)

I think he may have helped but the entire team was getting run over. I said at the time a keeper wouldn’t have made a difference and I stand by it - the team wasn’t fit/organised enough

Great performance,not sure what happened with the goal,probably a mixture of a few errors from the ref not giving the foul,which if you look on the replay distracts Ake as he appeals for it to a confusing high line deep into injury time. He commanded his area unbelievably well.

He had to close the player down. 9 times out of 10 that players touch isn’t enough or the finish goes wide/over

He couldn’t not close him down. It was a great finish

It's unfortunate, the goal is a combination of errors with Donna being a part of the error.

But, he was a great presence in the box in general on the corners and played well overall so im not gonna be down on him.

I don’t blame him for it. He couldn’t not come for it. 9 times out of ten the touch is poor and/or the finish goes over/wide - Donna couldn’t stay on his line, he had to close the attacker down

After a long hard defensive shift, the backline got drawn up the pitch and left too much space. I don't blame the keeper for being caught in a bad position. His authority and command of the box had helped keep us ahead.
