25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

There’s no real excuse for someone of his size to be so poor on crosses. It’s not like when we had that dwarf Given in net and he was glued to his line because he was 4’7”.
And for a guy of his size/weight his goalkicking ability is poor. No point in playing Erl way into the opposition half as his kicks struggle to reach the half-way line

At first I thought he was a big benefit to the leadership and belief and stopping the leaking goals.

But now, it doesn't appear to be the case, and we have sacrificed a ball playing keeper in Trafford for the future because clearly we are all in on Donna.

I'm hoping he can be better.

It’s not though. His arrival directly coincided with Harts decline, and Ederson arrived as an excellent shot stopper with one of the best penalty records in the world. The rest I can sort of put down to keepers used to playing every week getting worse after they were reduced to back ups.

He supposedly lets the keepers dictate their own training and it ends up with their weaknesses getting worse and worse.

You certainly can’t point to a goalkeeper who had markedly improved after coming to City while Mancisidor has been here.
Harts decline started with England not City

Muric is a lot worse now then he was with City

Ederson imprvoed and only lost interest and passion after the treble

Ortega took a step up from a small club to one of the best. His rooemis not comparable.

Steffen spent most of the time on loan

Willy was great under Xabi

Costel come on that is like expecting Robin Olsen to be a steady keepr.

We are all in on him because he’s fucking miles better than anybody else we’ve got.

Literally none of that is remotely true.

People forget that Ederson was pretty fucking shite for the last 18 months.

He was poor at times last year but the entire team was. He got absolutely left for dead in some situations and at the same time, he let in some shockers.

Point still stands that there is no system that demands a goalkeeper of Edersons passing talent because there is only one keeper that has that talent.

Pep gets characterised as being dogmatic and inflexible when in reality he's always been pragmatic enough to observe what he has on the team. Yes the team isn't playing well right now but he's clearly not expecting Donnarumma to play like Ederson.

you will probably blame him for Karius shortcomings as well. Pellegrini rated him Pep rates him.

Hart, Muric, Costel has done very little since leaving City
Ederson along with Alisson has been the best keeper in the league for the past decade
Ortega is the level you would expect a good back up formus or decent keeper for a mid table club
Willy got his big break under Xabi at Malaga and turned intomone ofmthe best keepers in La Liga
Trafford worked i City set up to get to where he is today.

So let me get this right, Xabi is responsible for Ederson being unable to save a penalty, is he controlling him from the bench like he’s playing FIFA?

“Supposedly”
Any evidence for this?

Well he’s got a pocket full of medals and golden gloves, unless of course those are despite him and he’s survived several management changes through pure luck.

It was time to move on from Eddie and this guy was available.

Hardly a bad move and PSG dominated with him.

I think he is part of a solid spine.

If he had the same team in front of him as Ederson did, he wouldn’t be seen as a problem.

We are much slower moving up the pitch when we clear the ball because we don't have confidence in him to mop things up. either with his hands or feet. This means we are much more vulnerable to conceding the sorts of goals in the second phase like we did tonight. The first one in particular was a horror show. The defence should have been pushing up together much more quickly and the defensive line was all over the place. In the past Dias would be shouting at them to get out but he seems reluctant to do so now possibly because he wants to protect Donna. It happened multiple times against Newcastle as well.

We are giving up more opportunities than we did with Ederson in goal and letting in more goals even though Donna is a better shotstopper.

I like Donna, but I think long-term we are going to need a different type of keeper if we're to get back to our absolute best under Pep.

Ederson arrived with one of the best penalty records in the world, and left having. It saved one in years. Who else is to blame but the GK coach when a player obviously regresses and doesn’t address a weakness?

Also he’s survived one management change, so you’re not even getting basic facts right.

Ederson is to blame, he’s the fucker in the net. He need his hand holding with how to save a penalty now?

anyway, a real shame that Ederson regressed his way to three golden gloves in a row, a treble and 4 premier league titles in a row.

Guess Xabi is just good at putting the cones out.

Not at his best with the crosses and I wish he’d just clear the fucker instead of punching out but most of Fulham finishes wrrr unstoppable
