The first goal was his fault as well as he should have been covering Ake, instead of standing in no man’s land

The kamikaze setup pep chooses for us means that defenders have to do something against the odds multiple times a game, if they don't overcome the odds, the opponents get a very good chance to score. It's a truly insane way of playing at this level and fucks all of our defenders over, making them look bad if theyre not winning 100% of their duels.

How many times do you think you'll see arsenal or the dippers defence exposed like we are multiple times every game? If any other defence was exposed as much as ours you'd be seeing just as many errors from their defenders and I'd probably argue a lot more.

The individuals in defence are not the problem, the system is. Put the treble winning back 4 in this system and very little changes. The young reinforcements we look like getting in are going to be in for a baptism of fire when they get exposed to this suicidal defending. Their threads will be a shitshow.

He isn't doing anything,, he looks disinterested and will be shipped out. Its not say that he hasn't been a good, buy but hes wandering around for the first and has lead boots for the second.

I think he’s proven to be a reliable defender when the ball is on the floor. He is excellent in the channels. He has been fucking dogshit in the air ever since he came to the club and that’s probably not going to improve. I liked him at RB and would like to see him back there.

What makes him look disinterested? I wouldnt agree with that. I would say he looks like somebody playing at much less than 100% fitness as does Ake. Pep has previously eluded to having only 1 fully fit defender in Gvardiol which would back that suggestion.

All defenders are constantly firefighting, majority of opposition attacks, we're outnumbered, where else do you see that happening?

Our defenders at best have to defend 1v1 which basically means they have to win 100% of their duels, if they don't, the opposition get a chance, that is a reckless defensive system that will reflect poorly on any back 4 you care to name.
 
Been dog shit as part of a 2 since we signed him. Unless he’s wide, he’s absolutely useless.

Too slow on the turn to play as part for of a centre half pairing, that much has been obvious since the treble season. We didn’t get going that season until Dias was brought back into the side and he was moved out wide.

No sense of potential danger or anticipation of where to be when he part of a centre half pairing. Think he gets moved to permanent right back after the signings come in and think it’s more than justified for him to be moved on in the summer.
 
Injuries have affected him but he does make daft errors this season.
Those making excuses because of the treble season , well as Pep said no one can live off past glories.

Still when all are fit I would make him first choice RB for the remainder
 
Akanji has fallen off a cliff. Where was he for their first goal, and what was that effort for their equaliser?

Even during the general play of the game, he was dead flakey.

He has always made errors. In another world son scores that goal after his error and inter Milan score from his error in champs league final. He has been fortunate

You may well be right.on the injury issue. However, he was a voyeur for the first goal and like a sulking child for the second. He has been a good signing and we will get our money back when he is sold

His flaws were always there, they just weren't exposed as much before this season.

Been poor all season. Feels like he needs quality like Rodri, prime Walker etc around him to look good. Should be dropped the first chance we have more fit defenders, or when the new boys come in.

Nowt to do with what you paid for in his case. You've seen what he's capable of with your own eyes, so why say silly throw away comments?
 
Get Khusanov in and central, and slide Akanji out right. He has a decent cutting edge and seems to defend OK centrally when he doesn't have to make many decisions.
And for games when we aren't tested I could see him tucking in to help in the center.

Gvardiol ---- Stones/Dias ---- Khusanov/Ake ---- Akanji
