I’ve got mates that compete regularly in marathons and triathlons.

Those are entirely different sports - not remotely comparable to PL Football

Amateur Triathletes and Marathon runners do not compete in such physically challenging comditions. They operate and train at a steady and consistent pace. There is no stop/start, tackle, jump, sprint, very high impact over a time period which equates to an endurance sport (90mims)

Its a joke to compare them.

My experience of AG triathletes, cyclists and long distance endurance runners is they tend to be middle professional class and have a mentality they are in some way equal or as good as professionals. They have pretty cushty lives themselves, doing what they want a la Jim Radcliffe, playing at elite sport.

Top professional footballers operate in a far more difficult environment and scrutiny, make people lots of money and are genuinely doing physically demanding sport. Football also has a high number of working class people make their way (something I will always love the sport for) but can easily and do get taken advantage of.

I am delighted the likes of Rodri and Akanji have the ability to advocate for their fellow players. Not many will be.
