He's been great recently. Is it me or has he been notably less selfish and started to rack up the assists from positions he normally would try and work a shot of his own from? He's even starting to show more fight in a City shirt on and off the ball which is a good sign in my opinion. What a player he can be if he can take a leaf out of Bernardo's book for effort for the team and desire to win.
He's been shooting a lot less lately (at least compared to last season). I think that's partly down to the team playing slower than before in order to maintain possession; shooting isn't going to help that. Also I think he's more confident in his teammates. Unless a shot's there to be taken you don't normally go for it unless you're a bit desperate, so having more faith in the team and his teammates would mean that he is happier to not try and open the gap for an unnecessary shot or cross as often.

That's been a big difference.

No longer does he cut and shoot, now it's cut and pass or cross!

And he is using the outside space more with his right foot to mix it up. Nobody can handle him right now.

I think part of it is just his style, his defensive positioning and getting back into it, he’s actually very good at. A better comparable would be Sterling as Bernardo is free to be the extra man wherever needed in the press.

I’ve personally been over critical of him at times due to that though - I’m more forgiving of some others than I am of him. It’s out of frustration of knowing just how good he can be though, he’s got such talent. I accept Sterling having a few poor finishes for example, I don’t with Mahrez as he really has got everything when he wants.

An absolute wizard. Guy can produce moments of magic and a player like that in a team filled with "safe and tidy" players is essential. Immense today! Bravo!
