A broken clock tells the correct time twice a day.

Some on here have been stating for weeks/months that they never wanted him and thought he was a bad buy at the time. I was the complete opposite, I wanted him at the club and was delighted when we signed him. I honestly thought we were buying our Salah. A wide forward in this City side cannot rock up with one goal and one assist in 10 games, he just can’t and KDB and/or Sterling missing chances won’t paper over the cracks for Mahrez. He is miles off the level needed and fucking light years behind Salah.
I get your point, but when you say he created the grand total of fuck all (in the game tonight, which I must assume is what you meant unless you were trying to be confusing) when he clearly should have had 2 assists, and notched more key passes than any other, kind of scratches at your credibility on this one, no?

6 key passes.

Did you watch the game?
The only thing he did of any note was the pass to Walker when he overlapped. Everything else was typical Mahrez....meh. I will concede it was arguably a better performance from him than we have seen recently but that’s not overly difficult. We were playing a terrible Olympiacos side and yet again Mahrez has walked off the pitch with nothing to his name.

Our wide forwards delivering next to nothing, are one of the main reasons why for the 1st time in the Pep era, we are seeing games drift at 1-0 for large periods. Look at the wide forwards he has managed over the years and how big of an influence they have been in his sides success. Now he has Mahrez.

Possibly.

Maybe I am being overly harsh if you take tonight’s performance in isolation but I can’t watch the guy drift in and out of games every single week, be the most selfish player in the side and yet finish another game with zero goals and zero assists.

I don’t think he played well tonight but instead had his typical half dozen moments in a game. I guess it could be argued that if he ends the game with two assists, things look different but I think that is Mahrez in a nutshell. He very rarely plays well over a period of a game but in previous years his moments within have paid off more than they are this season.

I think I am just extremely frustrated and disappointed that he has turned out to be nothing like the player I thought we were getting.

Fair enough, I understand now what you're trying to say. I disagree but I do get it.

Was alright tonight, not great but not terrible, and not worth singling out. sterling has been worse than Mahrez in more games this season. Hopefully now Jesus is back allowing Torres to come wide and our midfield is getting fit allowing the option of Bernardo/Foden out wide too it will force mahrez to fight harder for a start. Needs to learn from Bernardo out there, they have a similar skill set on the ball, if he styles his attacking game that way he could be a big asset instead of the passenger he currently is.

I just don't think our style of play suits him, He'd be better in a ball over the top team like he was at Leicester. Undoubtedly a skillful player, and I would think he impresses in training, hence the reason he gets so many starts.

I think it is harsh to call our opponents terrible.

I don't think Mahrez' form has been magnificent this season by any means but I also think most of the team has been below par attacking wise. I haven't isolated it to just the wide players so kudos if that really is the key.

No doubting Mahrez can frustrate but he had plenty to his name last seasons. His stats placed him in the top few performers in the league.
