Love watching him when he's in the mood he was in yesterday. Every first touch was immaculate as always but it was also attacking the full back too. Putting his marker on his back foot immediately and it showed, the guy had a bastard of a game chasing shadows.

A team player who prioritises team's requirements and manager's plan over showcasing personal flair and perhaps that's the reason why Pep thinks so highly of him and gave him a 2 year extension which was one of his finest decisions.
I better watch a Garrincha than a Milner. Each his own.

By the way, "showcasing personal flair" helped Leicester win a historic championship. Look where Leicester is today.

Lol so what he is supposed to do if his manager wants him to play a certain way? All players know its Pep way or the Highway so how can he be blamed for doing what manager wants? At Leicester he was the one of the main players and had the same freedom which KDB enjoys at city now adays.

But don't you see that posters here are questioning why he's not attacking the fullback? They're not saying he's following instructions. This whole discussion started from that point. Go back a bit and read within context.

There are few ways to look at this, most of the times Mahrez is occupied by 2 players and rarely get the space to launch a meaningful attack however this helps the midfield in finding space through the middle and launching attacks from the left flank so even if he's not finding joy he helps the team. Then there is a tactical element of ball retention where focus is more on creating good opportunities rather than taking a risk to create one and loosing possession in the process, further he's 32 so he doesn't have the same agility or pace to play the role he did at Leicester and lastly in present setup only Debruyne has the same level of freedom which Mahrez enjoyed at Leicester, he has to be disciplined for the greater good of the team which he does and for that very reason pep offered him the contract extension
