26 | Savinho - 2024/25

He’d look miles better with a functional midfield, playing with 2 wingers instead of Gvardiol being the most advanced left-sided player and not having 10 men behind the ball.

Would like to see us playing a bit more direct like in centurions season, but that’d mean being able to soak up pressure.

Just needs to work on final product everything else is solid. Works hard(more tackles than Bernie for example), creating plenty of chances, always willing to get at full back, is very fast. Gets himself into dangerous positions consistently, just need that shooting to click...He's better than Doku
He’s definitely more polished than Doku. I’ve got no worries with Savio. I think the goals and assists will come.

Doku is a complete enigma. So raw yet so talented. I’ve still got faith in him and just think what he can do is so unique he’s worth persisting with. Hopefully one day the more simple sides of the game will finally click and then we’ve got a world class winger on our hands for years. To be honest i wouldn’t bet on it though!

Personally, I think he has the potential.

He wasn’t bought to be a first XI player right away but injuries have forced him into that slot. Yes, his output is lacking but he’s far from alone there. The lad desperately needs a goal to boost confidence and he would have had several assists but for profligate finishing by others.

I don’t buy the lack of application. He looks like he cares. There again, I think it’s shite form rather than poor attitude that’s currently afflicting the team as a whole.

He is one of those players that if you did a highlight reel of you would think we have the next Ronaldinho, but in reality he is another Anthony.

Brazil seem to be producing loads of these showreel tricky wingers with very limited end product at the moment

I understand your point. This type of player is a risk. However, a third of Antony’s cost, so much lower financial risk and one worth taking in my view. I would hate to see the whole team to consist of short passing, safety first merchants.

He is probably trying too hard in that aspect. It is his first season and with Bobb's and Doku's injuries we can't rotate so can't really give him a little slack. He has shown promise so it not all bad.

Oh for sure. He's v young and he's still settling. But it feels a bit of a luxury when the foundations of the team are so creaky.

Most people don’t even realize that he always playing alone on the right side. No overlapping. Nothing. Always against 2. so don’t know what some people here expect.

You should move to the Lewis, Foden and Gundogan thread before letting this out here. New league, weaker position and you expect him to move like prime Mahrez.
Did I say that? I don’t expect him to be like prime FFS!? I was watching him quite often when Gvardiol had the ball outside the Spurs area, constantly attacking down the wing. Savinho was constantly static, just inside the Spurs box. He wasn’t moving about, taking Spurs players away, or making himself available for Gvardiol to pass to. That’s the basics of attacking football and playing together. Move, make spaces, drag opposing players about, receive the ball, give the ball, pass, and shoot.

I’ve not having a pop at the lad. He’s young, new to the PL, new to English culture(and Manchester weather), and needs to time to settle in. But atm he isn’t playing well of offering much in an attacking sense, on or off the ball.
