26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Personally I just don’t believe that we were offered £70m for Savinho. It is far more likely that talks were taking place about his contract and his agent got that nonsense out in the press to try and leverage the negotiations - look at my client, clubs think he is worth £70m. Daniel Levy was still running Spurs at that point, no way in the world he bid that. I could put up with the lack of any end product if he had guts and a work ethic, sadly he just brings nothing.

Last night we had Haaland and Cherki waiting to come on for quite a while and then we got a corner which I thought would be the ideal time to make the change. Get your big, tall record breaking goal scorer in the box - not that I think for one second we would have actually scored - but its the obvious thing to do. But no Savinho played a very quick short corner that went nowhere. I went a bit mad saying surely you get Haaland on and the bloke next to me said he's done that on purpose cos he thinks he's coming off.

At first I though nah im not having that but the more I've thought about that piece of play and quite a few more last night from other player's, I think he was right. Most of those last night did not have the balls to be a leader and take sime responsibility for what was best for the team.

I believe he must have talent, I remember his manager at Girona waxing lyrical about him in the year they qualified for the Champions League. When I watch him though I just think he looks overwhelmed by all the expectation of playing for club the magnitude of City and a manager as legendary as Pep. Whether that might change for a manager who follows Pep I'm not sure; I'm inclined to think not.

Sauvinhio hasn't played a decent game in a City shirt.....he doesn't look like hes got a goal in him, he doesn't even take defenders on that often, is lightweight and falls on his arse more than that other Bargain Basement Brazilian Jo! If Pep plays him again in any meaningful game in future he must be completely deluded. Nowhere near the level for City.

Who do you reckon was our worst performer last night then?
I was particularly disappointed with Reindjers, although he was asked to do a kind of floating right back thing later on because we couldn't make more than 5 subs (or maybe that was just his interpretation of it). But for a Serie A midfielder of the year I expected a lot more, I'm now worried he's got the Mangalas and after a good debut will disappear into obscurity.

I also thought Bobb looked ineffective other than one run where he got by his marker and that surprised even himself.

Can also make a case for Marmoush, he looked up it early on but after he didn't get the ball over the top a couple of times, he faded and didn't impact the game at all. Did he have a shot on target?

So many just didn't impact the game. Not saying Savinho was great at all but he did try and run forward which was at least something. Rest of them, Gonzales aside who looked like a man asked to hold the fort whist the gang nip to the chippy, looked like a forward pass would kill them, especially in the first half, and had the urgency of Trump releasing the Epstein files.

Cheers for reply, and yes, I can’t disagree with you highlighting any of those other names mentioned.

I would mount a slight defence for Marmoush, in terms of the lack of service he was afforded. I would actually rather have seen him moved wide and taking Savinho’s place, as I do think he can carry the ball with purpose. A couple of his runs when he did drop deeper to get involved were impressive.

I've just pinched this from a Facebook group.... :-)

A few things Savinho needs to work on to be a better player at City:

His shooting

His Passing

His Ball Control

His decision-making

His creativity

His name (remove the inho)

His first touch

His haircut

His pressing

His driving (he prolly doesn't have a driver's licence)

His workout

His stamina (on the pitch and in bed)

His dribbling

His head game (on and off the pitch)

His diving

His shooting

His running

His pace

His diet

His crossing

His jersey number (strip him off 26 and give him some random number like 67)

His defending

His clearing

His turning

His vision

His gambling

His weight of pass

His awareness

His Instagram bio

His testosterone levels

If he works on all these then he will be on par with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho...

Being generous I think it’s fair to say he hasn’t grasped his opportunity with both hands this season after being given more than his fair share of minutes..

When fans feel comfortable to keep slagging him off on social media you will always get the extreme people from outside the country mainly who do it!

It’s why I stopped using social media the people on there with extreme posts are for me cretins who need locking up..

People say they don’t feel sorry for him on his salary. Well I still do. Imagine being hated and abused with people going after your family. He loooks absolutely desperate when he’s on the pitch. Money might make life a lot easier but it’s not going to paper over that.

I still think he’s a talented lad. The spurs rumours have done for him at the moment. He needs a break and some one on one training and some sports psychology or something

Abusing people’s family is out of order, no two ways about it. Similar with Ederson

However, I expect all fan bases have the same element so changing clubs won’t help.

Also, it’s it now just a harsh fact of life for footballers and high profile people that they will get abuse online - footballers make a lot of money on social media but the down side is the abuse. My suggestion would be let an agency run your account and only ask to be told about the positive stuff and create ghost/private accounts for him and his family members if they still want to be on social media
