26 | Savinho - 2025/26

He also single handedly cost the third goal but somehow giving up the worst corner I’ve ever seen. To compare him and cherki is flat out disingenuous
Giving up the worst corner you've ever seen? Really? Maybe i'm mis-remembering here, it is entirely possible given what went on in that game and if so, please do correct me but didn't he try to hold off a player and play it off them for a goal kick? We see that exact play multiple times per game, it took an unlucky double deflection and cost us a corner, if its anybody but savinho, it doesnt even get mentioned.

I think the comparison is perfectly fair. For the record I think Savinho is a fanny that needs to toughen up drastically but his involvement in that second performance is minimal and should be way down the list of mentionables yet it seems the most popular thread, why's that? everybody slating savinho for not channeling his inner Nigel De Jong aren't also having a go at Cherki for leaving Nunes entirely alone down the right.

You gave me a contract extension. I'll keep playing no matter how performance or lazy I am.

But I block fans comments because they hate me. So I move my arms.

Nothing on the left, nothing on the right, nothing anywhere. I'm a trickster. Just give me another contract extension.

I get that & you make some valid points but watch how he gave away the corner that led to a goal and for the one before how he failed to track his guy.

Last year he showed some good potential the thing that sticks in my mind is since the Spurs bid (45 never 70) his performances have fallen away - only against Dortmund has he looked good.

Anyway a wins a win.
Not only that, we gave him a pay rise and longer contract.

The slick machine that was Manchester City the last 10 years is making some right fuck ups on and off the pitch at the moment.

Some of these posts are just embarrassing. He's the designated hate figure for some and they are clearly determined to absolutely roast him for anything and everything.

He didn't have a particularly good cameo but he was fine. He did his job and set up haaland, giving him the game ender on a plate, not his fault haaland missed it.

Compare the performances of savinho and cherki, both set up a chance (savinhos being a much better one) both are a bit of a fanny when it comes to workrate and putting your foot in (savinho easily having the better workrate of the two) yet cherki will get lavished with praise for his cameo and savinho will get slaughtered when they both delivered similar performances.
I don't think we will ever see Cherki fall over the ball twice in his time here. Never mind twice in the space of a few games!!

No one "hates" him.

But nearly 70 games in a city shirt and only 4 goals and a handful of assists shows how poor he is.

You'd think that when he comes on he would try and stand out to get more game time. Well he does stand out alright. But for all the WRONG reasons.

If he went up for sale tomorrow nobody will want him apart from teams making up the numbers. Wouldn't get a kick for the top 10 European sides.

He won't be here next season off the showings of the games he's played during his time here.

If people think he’s going anywhere in January, I think it a fantasy

Whoever gave him the new contract won’t want to be proven wrong so soon. Whatever was offered in the summer, almost certainly won’t be on the table in January. And, as he’s signed a new deal, he’s not going anywhere that he doesn’t want to go

Spurs fans were booing their keeper the other day, they’ll be invading the pitch after watching him for a couple of weeks!

Actually that was Gvardiol in the first half, conceding a corner when he was closer to the half way line.

Or more defenders at push. Even better get the likes of Rodri and Kovacic back into contention.
We need a guy with some bite, who can intimidate attackers with hard tackles even if he gets it wrong sometimes, I think Khus can be that guy.

He’s absolutely shite. Even my lad who isn’t that big into footy pointed it out. He’s got no control or brains to play in this team at this level

Take your pick

- If we opted to sell him, who would buy him?
- If we ended playing against him would you be worried
- When he comes on do you think he will make a difference
- Does he add anything defensively

He needs a month out of the team, work on fitness and strength, but mostly a mental break.

Paying 100m for that type of player seems ludicrous. Get both Rodri and Kovacic back for this season then re-assess in who to bring in the summer.

There has been comments that quite literally say they hate him. Most of the comments aren't even about tonight's performance which was fine, they're just venting their anger towards him unjustifiably because he is their chosen hate figure.

My cherki comparison was almost purely with regards to workrate, savinho has been slaughtered by many for his lack of workrate. I don't neccesarily disagree with that criticism, I don't think it's quite as bad as many would have us believe and have no issue with his effort tonight but I think in general its a more than fair criticism of him, I simply pointed out he put more effort in defensively tonight than Cherki did who still has yet to break into a jog defensively but he isn't seeing the same level of criticism for the same thing.

I'm not here to suggest Savinho is a world beater, i think he has a lot of talent but has yet to realise enough of it to fit in at the level he is currently playing. I've already stated i think he is a fanny that needs to toughen up, I don't think he is currently deserving of the minutes he is seeing either but I'm not so blinded by hatred towards him that I'm going to pile on him when he simply wasn't an issue at all tonight.

There were a lot of problems tonight as we conceded 4 and had to hang on to victory by thr skin of our teeth after scoring 5 away from home, savinhos thread if we are purely talking about performances tonight shouldn't really have gotten a single comment

Not gonna make a defence for him as his form is evident to all. That said, his confidence is shot and he could do with a break. Pep must see something in him and seems to be trying to play him into some kind of form, the problem is that it’s becoming counter-productive.

I think the kid’s got something to offer but needs taking out of the firing line for a bit. Don’t know whether he’s good enough for us but I think it’s harsh to attribute all our recent headlosses to him.

Scapegoat and he doesn’t deserve it tonight, need to take a long hard look at our backline m insyead of slating Sav this time

We ain't paying 100m for Khusanov are we ?
