Soriano must have told Pep to build Savinho up and play him, no other reason to give this much praise!

Savinho is adding nothing and gaining nothing atm.

Listening to the interview you get a better context. He’s saying savinho didn’t chase back v fulham ans Pep told him it’s not good enough but today savinho chased back every time so the lad is trying and listening as far as pep is concerned and that will earn rewards from Pep.
 
So wanted him to do well both Nico and Nunez have turned it round , unfortunately produced one of the worst cameos in world football right up there with George weahs cousin at Southampton who actually wasn't a footballer .
 
I liked what I saw as a stepping stone. He came on and looked like he had a bit of fire in his belly. Far moreso than his last few cameos.

It's a loss of confidence hes trying things that are not coming off where as if they did come off wed be saying different things about him, did notice in the game that when he lost the ball this time he worked his socks off to get it back instead of jogging back.

Thats probably why Pep was praising him.

We just dont know but we do know it's not looking good at the moment. I think he's getting this season or he has to leave.. like Raz post lyon miss was a shadow of himself. He was given the 21-22 season and there was a purple patch but not the consistency we wanted so he was moved on!

Pep's certainly digging his heels in over the lad, that's for sure, so I guess I'll just have to trust his judgment. I honestly can't see it though. Just runs with his head down until he loses possession and jogs around half heartedly on the defensive side of the coin.....
 
I expect him to start at Madrid mid week and tear them i new one.

Sav has a contract til 2031 and Pep certainly won't come out and say "he's turd" like our top pundits on here...

Pep wants to "help" players, and that's his job. As soon as Pep doesn't see any positive development he'll change his stance. Not yet.

Btw, Cherki is even more lazy helping out at the back.
Watch him, it's painful.

Cherki did more in one game yesterday than Savinho has done in all of his games for city, it's not unusual for flair players not to track back and water carry it really isn't.

He didn’t chase back yesterday though. He lost the ball three times and started strolling. We have better players than Sav in the academy.
