26 year old Rodri or Fern.. who would you take?

Dinho had the lot,so underrated [by others, not most Blues].

Rodri is brilliant, and improving....but he just doesn't quite have armoury of our legend.
He is very close and getting better all the time.

Fern was a special player and leader and Rodri could well be better at both in the coming years.

We have been incredibly lucky to see both of them in our shirt.

I can't imagine Rodri singlehandedly being the other two midfielders in a three that allowed Yaya to run rampant in 13/14.

However Rodri is a different player bringing different things.

Was a huge Ferna fan in his first year. But in examining my own opinions and recollections I think my Rodri fandom this year and last might just shade that.

Every City fan knew what was going to happen looking at that starting line up. So many bizarre choices. Playing that useless little shit Sterling. Not starting Aguero. No defensive midfielder.
Exactly. If we had played to our strengths of our strongest line-up, not only would we have beaten them but we would have pummeled them, and Chelsea couldn't believe Pep's brain fart gift to them.

Fernandinho was brilliant for us, but I’m not sure he was ever the best in the world.

Rodri is.

He is the best central midfielder in the world…and he can play CB without missing a beat.

His goal tonight was world class. Weaker foot, abysmal conditions, into the wind and driving rain and it was an inch perfect curler.

I’ve said it before, if Haaland was not breaking scoring records right left and centre, Rodri would WALK City POTY, and should WALK PL POTY. Sadly, he won’t win either and will have to be content with PL TOTY…unless the Lahndan media pick Partey!

The name on his shirt should say GODRIGO!!
Yeah I’d go with this, Rodri is on another level he walks into every team in the world.

With Fernandinho there was lots of other comparable players

Two great player who bring different attributes to the table. huge fan of both and I hate comparing players.

Ferdy was a captain for a reason, his heart was with the club the whole time. Instant Legend.

Rodri is bossing games too, can score big goals in big games. He is great.

Rodri for me. He's probably the most important player in our team. I genuinely think Pep puts his name down first and he doesn't get rested often.

Rodri makes the game look so simple, you can't understand why no one else can do it. All he does it stand in space, receive the ball and passes it accurately. He's never marked and always available to take the ball. It should be the absolute basics in a footballer but he is simply the best I've seen at it.

I genuinely think he has games where he doesn't misplace a pass. He's so good at it, I'd be amazed if he lost the ball. He also has a real aerial threat and I can hit a ball - I just wish he'd do it more often! I think defensively he's not as good as Fern but his all-round game is better. It just astounds me how for a player who's slow and does nothing but pass the ball about could be one of the best in the world! :)

I loved Fernandinho, he was an absolute rock for us. He was more of an enforcer than Rodri is without a doubt and he was one of the best in the world in that position. He was also a lot quicker than Rodri, but then again I'm quicker than Rodri :)

We should be glad to have seen both players play for us. They are two of the best midfielders I've ever seen.

The right answer. Players in this position mature fully at about 30 years of age and can have their best years 30-35.
This shows the strength of the club, replacing one great with a young potential great…..and you can’t see the join.
See also Dias and VK.
Spot on that.

The club deserve a huge amount of credit for picking Rodri out. Fernandinho was irreplaceable until he was replaced by a player of similar world class ability.
