I rate him on the sense he has some positives that no one else in the team seems to have..

1. defensive hustle & counter attacking pace
2. a knowledge/ ability to get key passes through to our striker
3. fitness

When the rest of the team just does side to side.. a blind man can see Nunes towering above the rest of the pack and in that situation.. Pep has to accept his negatives and just play him.. especially as we're leaking goals and we're not able to win games week in and week out by shutting other teams out!

For example was he responsible for both our goals conceded today? Nope. Was he responsible for losing the ball in a spot that led to an immediate counter? Nope.

So you take his good with the bad till you can recruit better and with 115 looming over us.. I seriously doubt top players want to come here till that's settled. You're gonna have accept Nunes and be thankful for what he does provide in the mean time.. he's not stealing a living like some in our squad!
 
I dont like the snobery about Nunes when imo he is proving to be a very good player.

Our style of play is a complete mess this season. The middle is a mystery, up front is a mystery and out wide is a mystery.

How can any one do well.

What worked for Pep in the past needs to be thrown out the window. It was effective back in its day but has been grinding slower and slower for a while now. Grealish frustrating himself out wide was a waste. Same with Nunes. These players need to be free to be creative.

imo Pep has to come up with a system that has our best players this season on the ball more. Including Nunes.

Id play Nunes in the middle because our middle is devoid of inventiveness or drive.

Umm mystery??

It's a make shift defense and a make shift midfield held together by a hope and a prayer.

If there was no Ruben today.. we would have lost that game 5-0 and that's the problem we had.. no Ruben, no Rodri, no KDB, no Foden, no Stones, no Ake and no Akanji.

Other teams have figured it out and are having a go at us.. and I think we have to be honest they can basically bully us off the ball and waltz on in on our goal with high quality shots.

This season is making Pep's 2019-20 make shift defense of Fernandinho and Eric Garcia at CB look good!

True re the injury disaster but the tactics were failing before that struck. We weee scratching our heads about Grealish for years but because the rest clicked it didn't kill us.

It's a mystery to me what Pep us trying to do with our midfield. When enough are fit again I hope he has something new up his sleeve that has us breaking into the box with purpose a lot more often, and shooting on target a lot more often and converting chances a lot more often.

Nunes is up for the job imo.

Grealish in CM vs Forest was excellent did far more than I’ve ever seen Nunes do or capable of. Next game benched. Nunes doesn’t get trusted to slot in there he goes to the wing. It’s all just a bit bizarre

You know what’s funny. He will still score and assist more than 95% of this squad. Amazing isn’t it? As a CM to be put on the wings and you expect world class performances. Maybe people like you need to realize that we should start playing players on their actual position and not on another they’ve never played. I came to the conclusion that so many here maybe never kicked a ball and are mad when a 20yr old isn’t a world beater or if someone who changes the position isn’t a world beater right away. If Musiala joined and played RW and didn’t play as good as like as a 10 you would probably hate him too.

Who is playing him out of position,who bought him ?

Don't patronise my inteligence,i know he is being played out of position.Dont conclude what i would think too btw,anyone can play that game.
 
Well.. everything depends on how solid we are in the defence and middle.

If everything is OK there, I can easily sea a player in him, who can be rotated with Doku as a LW and become a very valuable squad player.

As for the Grealish - hopefully he will be moved into middle..

there's no excuse for though. Once, you say okay wake up, to happen twice is unacceptable. Reminds me of Sane in that he seems to need pep in his ear constantly to maintain concentration levels.

Agreed. Consistently gets goals and assists, who else in our squad does that this season? Very few. Deserves to play more, I wish we could see him more centrally and play Doku LW. I might sound negative but I think this season is all about securing top 4 and doing well in the cups. It will be key to get Doku firing on all cylinders, adding goals and assists to his game ahead of next season. Both Gundo and Bernardo might leave next summer, so there should definitely be space for Nunes to play as a midfielder long term. Elite ball carrier, pace, energy, good in tight spaces and makes things happen. Allow him to play with Rodri and KDB and we’d have a very good player
